About The Position

The Stanford Park Hotel is seeking an experienced housekeeping leader to join their outstanding team. The Director, Housekeeper reports to the Director of Rooms and is responsible for the effective management and direction of the housekeeping operation by providing quality service to the guest, excellent leadership to the associates and monitoring cost and inventory to ensure a profitable operation. An exceptional eye for detail and an ability to inspire others to do their best is essential for this role. You will develop strategies to heighten productivity and control costs, adjusting staffing and ordering to match business levels. You inspire the team through your creative, innovative, and collaborative approach—you understand that the ability to act as a soldier is as critical as being a general. Having the skills to mentor and teach your team is a must for this position, as is demonstrating humility and genuine care for the property and the individuals who take great care of it. You will have the opportunity to work with a phenomenal group of individuals with whom collaboration, humbleness, and open minds are the norm—no egos are allowed. The ability to work with controlled measure and respect for your leadership team and peers is imperative; we have a zero-tolerance policy for the “old school way.”

Requirements

  • Must have basic knowledge of sanitation requirements/controls and applications of relevant chemicals.
  • Bilingual Required
  • Must have knowledge of policies and procedures as they relate to safety and security of the guest and the Hotel property.
  • The ability to effectively deal with associates and customers some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to diffuse anger, collect accurate information and resolve conflicts.
  • Able to write reports, correspondences, memos and associate performance evaluations
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Basic math skills
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma is preferred.
  • At least two years previous Housekeeping supervisory experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the Housekeeping Manager, Housekeeping Supervisors, Housemen, Room Attendants and Laundry Attendants.
  • Prepares weekly schedules, enforces service standards and provides guidance and training.
  • Interviews, hires and trains room attendants on the procedures and techniques to be used.
  • Provides training to new hires, including detailed instruction on the use of chemicals for various surfaces and how to report repairs to maintenance.
  • Reviews current standards with staff in the daily meeting and introduces any changes such as those affecting the amenity set-up to ensure proper compliance.
  • Plans, organizes, assigns and coordinates the daily activities and any special projects for the staff to ensure compliance with the quality assurance standards of the Hotel.
  • Ensures all guestrooms and public areas are clean and resolves guestroom issues if a problem of dissatisfaction arises with the level of cleanliness and or service provided.
  • Controls all housekeeping expenditures including labor costs and all purchases.
  • Completes probationary and annual associate performance evaluations and coaches and counsels members of staff when necessary. Completes personnel action forms for salary increases when applicable.
  • Ensures chemicals and cleaning supplies are properly used and that all hazardous supplies are properly labeled in accordance with the Hotel’s Hazard Communication Standards.
  • Conducts a linen inventory on a monthly basis and communicates status to the Director of Rooms and the Managing Director.
  • Completes payroll reports at the end of each pay period in a timely fashion.
  • Visually inspects guestrooms and public areas including the restaurant, lounge, meeting rooms, etc. to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Oversees the operation of the linen, supply and storage rooms.
  • Issues housekeeping keys and maintains inventory.
  • Documents and submits a work order to report items that need to be repaired and follows up with the maintenance department accordingly.
  • Coordinates with the owners and their representatives to provide off site labor services as needed.
  • Looks for opportunities to improve services by networking with other Woodside Hospitality Group Directors of Housekeeping.
  • Periodically meet with vendors to make sure that pricing is competitive. Seeks out other vendors for pricing comparisons.
  • All other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
