About The Position

As Architect for the Global Technology Global Sales Reporting group, the Director, Global Technology is responsible for the technical design, implementation, and ongoing operation of the global SAMIS Data Warehouse/DataLake. The environment ingests large volumes of sales consumption data from upstream systems using cloud-based architectures, enabling users across departments to gain strategic business insights through the SAMIS Frontend. The role translates SAMIS architectural strategy into working code and owns implementation across the data lifecycle, including ingestion, processing, storage, APIs, enablement, security, and sharing. It builds data marts and services, establishes development and release standards, and works directly with business teams, system owners, architects, project leads, DevOps, CloudOps, and InfoSec. The position also leads technical proof-of-concepts, production operations, performance and cost optimization, security implementation, and operational resilience.

Requirements

  • Expertise in Python, PySpark, and SQL, with comfort tuning performance in Spark UI.
  • Experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure services, including Autonomous DB, AI Data Platform, Data Integration, Unified Catalog, Analytic Views, ORDS, Data Flow, Object Storage, and OCI Events/Functions.
  • Knowledge of medallion lakehouse architecture (Bronze/Silver/Gold) with Iceberg and Delta Uniform, including ACID, time travel, schema evolution, and compaction.
  • Experience with star schema, snowflake, and dimensional data modeling for analytical performance.
  • Knowledge of lakehouse strategies, including batch versus incremental ingestion, partitioning, lifecycle management, and late-arriving data.
  • Experience with ETL/ELT tools and Spark batch and streaming processing.
  • RESTful API design experience, including ORDS, OAuth/API-key authentication, and data integration patterns.
  • Proven track record in performance and stress testing and identifying and resolving bottlenecks under load.
  • Experience designing CI/CD pipelines using YAML and Git branching and release strategies for safe, auditable deployments.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to Agentic AI workflows for self-healing pipelines.

Responsibilities

  • Implement the end-to-end SAMIS data lifecycle, including ingestion, processing, storage, APIs, enablement, security, and sharing; personally write critical-path code for ingestion connectors and API services.
  • Create and enforce SAMIS development standards, including coding templates, CI/CD workflows, and data-quality frameworks; participate in design and code reviews.
  • Work with business teams and technology leads to understand KPIs and build, design, and optimize aggregate tables and materialized views that power dashboards.
  • Coordinate SAMIS releases with upstream and downstream systems by inspecting data workflows, writing schema-validation scripts, and implementing alerts for breaking changes.
  • Conduct hands-on design and code walkthroughs; review and refactor code and support junior engineers through pair programming.
  • Own proof-of-concept execution for SAMIS components and features, including test-environment setup, integration coding, performance benchmarking, and presentation of findings to senior leads.
  • Facilitate weekly technical working sessions, providing code-level feedback, whiteboarding solutions, and writing proof-of-concept scripts to resolve technical issues.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD YAML pipelines, define deployment strategies, oversee production releases, and perform rollbacks when necessary.
  • Work with the OCI CloudOps team to debug Spark cluster configurations, improve SQL queries, and tune AIDP to reduce pipeline runtimes.
  • Translate InfoSec policies into code, including row-level security filters, encryption-key rotations, and dynamic data masking in SAMIS API queries.
  • Optimize costs through code refactoring, improved table scans and partition pruning, and movement of cold data to lower-cost storage tiers; report monthly technical savings metrics.
  • Design and implement SAMIS operational resilience, including monitoring dashboards, pipeline-SLA alerting, standard operating procedures, and automated fixes.
