Alternate Hybrid locations maybe considered New Brunswick, NJ (USA); Raynham, MA (USA); West Chester, PA (USA) Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopedics business to establish a standalone orthopedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months, subject to legal requirements, including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as may be required, regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals. Should you accept this position, it is anticipated that, following conclusion of the transaction, you would be an employee of DePuy Synthes and your employment would be governed by DePuy Synthes employment processes, programs, policies, and benefit plans. In that case, details of any planned changes would be provided to you by DePuy Synthes at an appropriate time and subject to any necessary consultation processes. The Director, Global Security Americas Lead provides strategic and operational leadership for physical and enterprise security across the Americas region. This role is accountable for protecting DePuy Synthes employees, facilities, assets, and operations through the development and execution of comprehensive security strategies, policies, and programs. The position leads managers and senior individual contributors in a matrix environment and serves as a key partner to business leaders, ensuring security programs enable business continuity, resilience, and growth while aligning with corporate standards and regulatory expectations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 10–12 years of progressive experience in corporate, physical, or global security, including regional or multi‑site responsibility.
  • Proven experience leading managers and senior individual contributors in a matrixed organization.
  • Demonstrated expertise in physical security operations, risk management, investigations, and incident response.
  • Strong strategic planning and execution skills with the ability to align security programs to business needs.
  • Results-objectives-goal oriented; cost-benefit analyst, decision maker, strategic planner, and tactical executive.
  • Experience partnering with senior leaders and influencing decision‑making across complex organizations.
  • Ability to manage budgets, vendors, and external security partners effectively.
  • Strong communication, judgment, and crisis‑management capabilities.
  • Able to adapt to different corporate and social cultures, remain intellectually curious and interested in security technology.
  • Comfortable when speaking in public and able to provide presentations and briefings to a diverse range of audiences, to include training.
  • English required; additional languages (e.g., Spanish or Portuguese) preferred.
  • Up to 30% domestic and international travel within the Americas. Must be able to travel on short notice.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Security Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Experience supporting global or regional security operations within a highly regulated or manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with enterprise risk management, crisis management, and business continuity planning.
  • Experience working across multiple countries within the Americas region.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive change and continuous improvement in security programs.
  • Knowledge of corporate governance, compliance, and audit expectations related to security.
  • CPP, PSP, or similar security certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute the regional Global Security strategy for the Americas, aligned with enterprise security objectives and business priorities.
  • Direct managers and senior individual contributors in a matrix environment, providing coaching, performance management, and career development.
  • Oversee physical security operations, including site protection, access control, surveillance, incident response, and investigations.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders, local leadership teams, and external partners such as law enforcement and emergency services.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve security policies, procedures, and standards to mitigate risk and ensure compliance.
  • Lead regional risk assessments and vulnerability analyses and drive mitigation plans to protect people, property, and operations.
  • Manage response to significant security incidents, ensuring timely escalation, investigation, and resolution.
  • Provide strategic input on crisis management, business continuity, and emergency preparedness programs.
  • Manage regional security budgets, resources, and vendor relationships to ensure effective and efficient operations.
  • Promote a strong security culture aligned with Johnson & Johnson’s Credo and Leadership Imperatives.
  • Establish liaison with local law enforcement agencies and external security committees/partnerships within the region.
