About The Position

The Director of Finance is a key member of the Connecticut Senior Leadership Team (SLT), serving as the senior financial steward for all accounting, reporting, and financial governance activities. This role is primarily responsible for ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and compliance of all financial operations, while establishing a strong controllership framework across the organization. As the leader of Corporate Controllers and core Finance functions, this individual will drive excellence in financial reporting, internal controls, cost accounting, and audit readiness. The role ensures adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), strengthens financial discipline, and provides transparent, reliable financial data to support executive decision-making. While partnering with business leaders, the emphasis remains on accounting rigor, risk management, and financial accountability within a complex aerospace manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA strongly preferred; MBA optional).
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, with significant experience in controllership roles within manufacturing or aerospace.
  • Deep expertise in GAAP, internal controls, audit management, and financial reporting.
  • Strong background in cost accounting, inventory management, and standard costing methodologies.
  • Proven experience leading Corporate Controllers or equivalent accounting organizations.
  • Demonstrated success managing audits, regulatory compliance, and complex financial environments.
  • High level of financial and business acumen, with the ability to translate accounting data into executive insights.
  • Strong ERP and financial systems experience, with emphasis on data integrity and control frameworks.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills with a focus on accountability and precision.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the Corporate Controllers function, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and corporate policies.
  • Establish and maintain a robust internal control environment, including compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements and audit standards.
  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring discipline, transparency, and continuous improvement in close cycle efficiency.
  • Ensure integrity of the general ledger, financial statements, and all supporting documentation across multiple sites.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for internal and external audits, including coordination with auditors and regulatory bodies.
  • Provide leadership in technical accounting matters, including revenue recognition, inventory valuation, standard costing, and reserves.
  • Oversee cost accounting systems to ensure accurate product costing, margin analysis, and inventory controls aligned with aerospace manufacturing requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable financial regulations, tax requirements, and corporate governance standards.
  • Drive consistency and standardization of accounting policies, procedures, and reporting across all Connecticut operations.
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes with a focus on accuracy, discipline, and variance accountability.
  • Deliver detailed financial reporting packages, including variance analysis, profitability insights, and key financial metrics.
  • Provide data-driven recommendations grounded in financial analysis to support leadership decision-making.
  • Maintain rigorous oversight of working capital, including inventory, receivables, and payables management.
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks through strong controls, policies, and governance frameworks.
  • Ensure compliance with aerospace industry standards, contractual requirements, and regulatory obligations.
  • Partner with Legal, Compliance, and external stakeholders to manage financial exposure and contractual risk.
  • Ensure financial systems (e.g., ERP platforms such as Infor Syteline) support accurate accounting, reporting, and auditability.
  • Drive improvements in financial data integrity, system controls, and reporting automation.
  • Lead initiatives to enhance financial processes, reporting efficiency, and transparency through technology and standardization.
  • Serve as a trusted financial advisor to the VP/GM and SLT, providing objective financial insight and governance.
  • Build and develop a high-performing accounting and finance organization focused on technical excellence and accountability.
  • Promote a culture of financial discipline, ethical conduct, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead financial support for strategic investment initiatives driven by Korea HQ, including capital allocation, M&A evaluation, and long-term business expansion across U.S. operations.
