About The Position

As a Director, Finance you’ll be the key relationship manager for merchant teams, providing financial insight and partnership across the Optical department. The Health & Wellness Merchandise Finance team collaborates closely with merchants to manage all financial aspects of the Optical strategy. This team leads annual operating plans, long-range planning, forecasting, and supports strategic initiatives set by leadership. It also supports the Payer function which negotiates and manages insurance plans for Optical. Operating in a dynamic environment, the team handles both structured and ambiguous projects, emphasizing flexibility and strategic thinking. Associates contribute to Walmart’s financial goals by providing insightful analysis and supporting decision-making processes that drive business performance and growth.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in finance, business analysis, or merchandising, ideally within a large, complex organization
  • Strong relationship management skills and the ability to influence and challenge business partners
  • Comfort with ambiguity and a flexible, solutions-oriented mindset
  • Advanced analytical skills, including financial modeling and scenario analysis
  • Experience leading cross-functional projects and driving business outcomes
  • Ability to communicate complex financial concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strategic thinking with a focus on continuous improvement and business growth
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field and 5 years’ experience in accounting, finance, or relevant area OR 7 years’ experience in accounting, finance, or related area
  • 2 years’ supervisory experience
  • 2 years’ experience leading and completing cross-functional projects

Responsibilities
