About The Position

The Director of Facilities and Properties leads the planning, development, maintenance, security, and safe operation of GSHCC facilities, camp properties, buildings, grounds, vehicles, and equipment. The Director supervises two employees supporting Camp Fleming, Camp Menzies, and Sacramento facilities, and ensures appropriate seasonal maintenance coverage for camp operations. The role combines department leadership and independent judgment with operational accountability, including assigning and overseeing routine maintenance and custodial work and performing hands-on tasks as needed within training and safe-work requirements. The Director serves as project manager for GSHCC’s property strategy to transition from one headquarters site to multiple smaller regional facilities. The role translates the approved strategy into phased plans, manages transition logistics and space readiness, coordinates approved headquarters closure or lease exit, and reports progress, expenditures, risks, and recommendations to the CFO and leadership. The Director oversees creation, renovation, and buildout of regional and camp spaces, collaborating with staff and qualified design and construction professionals to create welcoming, accessible, functional, safe, durable, sustainable, and cost-conscious facilities. The position maintains responsibility for facility and property operations, preventive maintenance, custodial coverage, inventories, purchasing within approved authority, contractor and site coordination, and planning and supervision of staff and volunteer work projects. The Director leads facilities staff and seasonal hiring and coverage, coordinates with camp and program leadership, and ensures compliance with applicable health and safety requirements, ACA standards, and GSUSA guidelines. The role also maintains emergency and facilities response procedures and coordinates after-hours response and seasonal site coverage. Work takes place in office, facilities, and outdoor camp settings, with regular travel, varied weather, and occasional maintenance tasks. The schedule is flexible and may include evenings, weekends, and extended hours for emergencies, deadlines, and camp opening or closing. Operational needs may require on-site stays; any required residence is governed by a separate housing or lease arrangement. Essential functions may be performed with or without reasonable accommodation. GSHCC is a girl-centric and performance-driven community serving 18 counties. Its mission is to build girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place, while providing girls, volunteers, and staff with a safe space to learn, grow, and be themselves.
