Apply now for the position of Director of Enterprise Strategy. In this individual contributor role, you will drive the organization’s long-range planning and enterprise strategic direction across the Varian portfolio. You will partner closely with business leaders and senior executives to shape, influence, and align enterprise strategy. You will report to the Head of Enterprise Strategy and work collaboratively across the organization to ensure alignment between strategic priorities and business outcomes.

Requirements

  • Deep understanding of oncology ecosystems, clinical workflows, and digital/AI innovation trends, with the ability to translate these into differentiated strategic directions.
  • Proven ability to translate complex data and ambiguity into clear strategic insights and recommendations.
  • Deep expertise in enterprise strategy, strategic planning, and portfolio prioritization, with a track record of driving measurable business impact.
  • Ability to translate complex data and ambiguity into clear, actionable strategic recommendations that inform executive decision-making.
  • Advanced analytical capabilities including market intelligence, competitive strategy, financial modeling, forecasting, and KPI/OKR development.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and influencing senior executive- and board-level materials.
  • Exceptional executive communication and strategic storytelling skills; able to simplify complexity and drive alignment.
  • Advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) preferred; strong business acumen and financial literacy required.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in enterprise strategy, corporate development, or portfolio management, with increasing scope and accountability.
  • Proven track record of leading enterprise or business-unit strategy development and translating strategy into actionable execution plans.
  • Demonstrated experience shaping or enabling data-driven, AI-enabled, or digital health strategies.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

  • Lead enterprise portfolio prioritization, resource allocation, and investment governance, driving data-informed decisions to optimize strategic and financial outcomes.
  • Develop and deliver high-impact strategic recommendations and executive-level materials that shape enterprise direction and decision-making.
  • Generate forward-looking, enterprise-level insights on market, competitive, clinical, and policy trends, translating them into actionable strategic implications.
  • Drive cross–business line strategy alignment and prioritization, ensuring initiatives are integrated, non-duplicative, and aligned to long-term value creation.
  • Own enterprise strategy performance management, including development of dashboards, KPIs, and scorecards to track progress, inform decisions, and drive accountability.
  • Lead strategy governance processes, shaping agendas, analyses, and recommendations for enterprise forums and decision bodies.
  • Serve as a trusted strategic advisor to senior leadership, influencing enterprise decisions and driving alignment in a complex, matrixed environment.
