About The Position

The successful candidate is an expert in employee and community giving gained through extensive experience leading the people and operations of a large community giving function to develop and implement community giving programs across a matrixed organisation. The candidate must be able to work effectively in a constantly changing and sometimes ambiguous environment, engaging with senior leadership to build world-class community giving capabilities that contribute to BMO’s social impact and Purpose commitments. The candidate understands how to use data and analysis to inform and measure community giving programs. A member of the ECG leadership team, the candidate is an experienced, collaborative leader who can collaborate with other ECG leaders and teams in employee giving, social impact and strategy and governance to drive excellence in community giving. The Director, Employee and Community Giving, understands the different needs of stakeholders involved in employee and community giving and social impact across the market they are managing.

Requirements

  • Typically 9+ years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, promotes, maintains & manages Employee and Community Giving programs in Canada, performing periodic reviews, analyzing program outcomes, providing insights and making recommendations for enhancements/changes as required.
  • Ensures the effective & efficient execution of all program components, including ensuring change management & communications are in place for any enhancements/changes and mitigating any risk.
  • Works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Fosters a culture aligned to BMO purpose, values and strategy and role models BMO values and behaviours in all that they do.
  • Ensures alignment between values and behaviour that fosters diversity and inclusion.

  • Acts as the prime contact for internal/external stakeholder relationships, which may include regulators.
  • Defines business requirements for analytics & reporting to ensure data insights inform business decision making.
  • Designs and produces regular and ad-hoc reports, and dashboards.
  • Leads change management programs of varying scope and type, including readiness assessments, planning, stakeholder management, execution, evaluation and sustainment of initiatives.
  • Leads the development of the communication strategy focusing on positively influencing or changing behaviour.
  • Collaborates across BMO to develop communications strategies and ensure consistency of messaging, in order to positively influence or change behaviour.
  • Leads the execution of operational programs; assesses and adapts as needed to ensure quality of execution.
  • Supports the development of the program strategy ensuring that key goals are delivered and are aligned to overall BMO goals.
  • Supports the management of the corporate / employee program, including developing program components, promoting the program and ensuring the execution of all program components.
  • Designs measurable sustainment strategies including assessing and recommending mitigations for industry/ segment-specific risks and prioritizing opportunities presented by internal and external stakeholders.
  • Investigates, analyzes, documents & mitigates program risks and advises any issues or concerns to senior leaders.
  • Understands the purpose of the program and ensures that stakeholder needs are understood and integrated into the development & management of the program.
  • Analyzes the impact and effectiveness of the program through periodic reviews of the programs and makes recommendations to improve processes, procedures and/or policy.
  • Breaks down strategic problems, and analyses data and information to provide program insights and recommendations.
  • Monitors and tracks program performance, and addresses any issues.
  • Manages the change management for any enhancements / changes and ensures that appropriate plans are in place to execute effectively.
  • Tracks exception requests and corresponding approvals.
  • Participates in the management of vendor relationships; ensures regular reviews are in place, key performance indicators are monitored, service level agreements are met and service costs are kept within budget.
  • Oversees project activities o ensure deadlines are met and program solutions are delivered as scheduled.
  • Leads/participates in the design, implementation and management of core program processes.
  • Participates in assigned strategic initiatives impacting the overall program, providing insight and analytical support.
  • Continuously monitor industry developments and continuously update.
  • Operates at a group/enterprise-wide level and serves as a senior specialist resource across BMO.
  • Influences how teams/groups work together.
  • Applies expertise and thinks creatively to address unique or ambiguous situations and to find solutions to multiple, interdependent, complex problems.
