About The Position

The Director, Digital Operations serves as the primary liaison between CNI Manufacturing and Corporate IT, ensuring technology solutions support operational excellence while aligning with enterprise standards for security, infrastructure, and governance. This role is responsible not only for leading manufacturing technology initiatives, but also for establishing the documentation, architecture, and operational knowledge necessary to support a reliable and scalable manufacturing technology environment. This is a hands-on leadership position requiring someone who is equally comfortable developing strategy, building relationships, documenting technology environments, leading projects, and rolling up their sleeves to solve operational technology challenges. Reporting to the Director of Infrastructure & Security, the Director partners with manufacturing leadership, corporate functions, vendors, and IT teams to modernize manufacturing systems while reducing operational risk and improving long-term supportability. Requirements

  • Must be able to pass a background check
  • Demonstrated ability to build trusted partnerships between business operations and Information Technology, serving as a strategic advisor and primary point of contact for technology initiatives.
  • Experience leading cross-functional technology projects from concept through implementation, balancing operational priorities with long-term strategic objectives.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise infrastructure, operational technology (OT), manufacturing systems, business applications, and systems integration.
  • Proven ability to document complex technology environments, develop architecture diagrams, process maps, and technical standards that improve operational resilience and reduce reliance on institutional knowledge.
  • Experience evaluating, implementing, and supporting enterprise and manufacturing technologies while ensuring alignment with cybersecurity, infrastructure, and governance standards.
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, facilitation, and problem-solving skills with the ability to communicate effectively with executives, technical teams, vendors, and frontline operations.
  • Ability to lead strategically while remaining hands-on in support of critical operational initiatives and technology implementations.
  • Bachelor's degree in technology or related field and a minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education/experience.

  • IT manufacturing, ERP experience, ITIL, Lean Six Sigma, cybersecurity, or enterprise architecture experience.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the primary liaison between Manufacturing Operations and Corporate IT, ensuring technology solutions align with operational priorities.
  • Builds strong relationships with leadership to identify technology needs and recommend business-focused solutions.
  • Translates business requirements into technical solutions that improve efficiency, scalability, and user experience. and communicates these concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Leads the documentation of applications, infrastructure, integrations, workflows, and operational technology supporting business operations.
  • Develops architecture diagrams, process maps, system inventories, and support documentation.
  • Documents relationships between manufacturing systems, JobBoss, Costpoint, network infrastructure, shop floor technology, and supporting applications.
  • Identifies technology risks created by undocumented systems and develops plans to reduce operational dependency on institutional knowledge.
  • Partners with Infrastructure, Security, and Applications teams to ensure manufacturing technology is fully represented within the enterprise architecture.
  • Leads manufacturing technology initiatives from concept through implementation.
  • Leads strategic initiatives including JobBoss optimization, Digital Shop Floor modernization, manufacturing telecommunications improvements, and future manufacturing technology evaluations.
  • Evaluates manufacturing software and technology solutions, making recommendations that balance business needs, security, cost, and long-term sustainability.
  • Coordinates vendors, IT teams, and business stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of manufacturing technology initiatives.
  • Provides onsite technical leadership and diagnostic support for manufacturing technology issues.
  • Assists with implementation, testing, deployment, and drives user adoption of new technologies.
  • Supports enterprise initiatives outside manufacturing as business priorities require.
