About The Position

The Director Dialysis Services reports to the Director Pathology Administration administratively and the Medical Director clinically. Develops strategic direction, implements and evaluates inpatient and outpatient dialysis services. Directs and coordinates resources for the delivery of care to the patients. Oversees and evaluates the performance of subordinates. Requirements

Licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island by the Rhode Island Board of Nursing strongor/strong licensure as a Registered Nurse in accordance with the Nurse Licensure Compact agreement of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing.
Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island.
Baccalaureate in Nursing.
Demonstrated skill in program planning, financial planning and quality management.
High levels of analytical, qualitative and problem solving skills.
Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients with consideration of aging processes, human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.
Seven or more years of progressively more responsible related experience, preferably gained in a similar diverse and operationally complex healthcare environment including dialysis.

Nice To Haves

Master's Degree in Nursing, Health Administration, Public Health or Business Administration is preferred.

Responsibilities

Develops and implements systems for providing care which evidence improvement and support innovation in practice based on customer need and the mission of Rhode Island Hospital and its facilities.
Fosters the development of a positive relationship with patients and their families by developing and maintaining collaboration with physicians and nursing staff and establishing processes to facilitate a positive and smooth patient experience through the continuum of care (admission – discharge/transfer).
Develops, implements and evaluates a service quality improvement program that focuses on principles of patient/family centered care and customer service principles.
Establishes mechanisms for integrated and systematic evaluation of all aspects of patients care quality and safety for areas of responsibility.
Identifies areas for improvement and affects change in collaboration with involved disciplines/departments.
Plans, implements, and evaluates new patient care programs in collaboration with physicians, and members of key departmentsgencies to ensure coordinated delivery of services and enhance hand-off of care of patients to others.
Establishes mechanisms to integrate the services of physicians, nurses and other health team members who provide care and services in the dialysis departments to patients and families.

Develops and manages annual operating objectives for areas of responsibility to include operating and capital equipment budgets.
Measures actual budgetary performance (revenue, expenses against standards) and ensures variances are within established targets.
Establishes and implements policies and procedures specific to the dialysis units that are consistent with Hospital 's nursing care standards and established goals.
Monitors for compliance to internal and external regulatory standards consistent with CMS Conditions of Coverage.
Institutes course correction to ensure compliance for areas of responsibility.
Ensures all patient care is based on the best evidence base available, meets or exceeds patient care quality standards as outlined in best sources regarding dialysis care available.
Collaborates and consults with peers, colleagues and physicians by defining functional standards and ensuring applications across departments are consistent and evidenced based.
Assures the effectiveness of shared decision-making by evaluating outcomes against identified goals.
Demonstrates visibility and accessibility of staff by making regular rounds, staff communication and meetings.
Ensures patient-family-centered care is operationalized effectively in Dialysis Inpatient and Outpatient Services by partnering with physicians and disciplines to achieve.
Directs the development, implementation and evaluation of programs for recruitment, retention, recognitions, development and continuing education of staff.
Recruits and oversees the performance of subordinates.
Evaluates and develops collaboratively developmental goals for management staff that encourage growth and learning.
