About The Position

The Director, Senior Data Analyst is a senior role within the Office of the CIO, responsible for owning and driving strategy, roadmap, and delivery for core investment data products. This role sits at the intersection of Data, AI, and Investments, with a strong focus on investment data across the investment lifecycle. The Data Analyst will partner closely with Investment, Technology, and Business Operations stakeholders to deliver scalable, high-impact data products. Reporting to the Managing Director, Chief of Staff, Office of the CIO & the Senior Managing Director, Client Experience, Data & Analytics, and Innovation Platforms Owner, the Senior Data Analyst will leverage their in-depth asset management and/or capital markets knowledge to provide a hands-on, strong analytical and data-driven approach to help transform, organize, visualize, and understand large data sets. This individual will be comfortable translating complex investment concepts into clear data products. We are looking for an individual who thrives in a fast-paced and agile environment and knows how to influence cross organizational teams. We are looking for an individual with an owner mindset and clear communicator who is comfortable negotiating and making recommendations to various levels of leadership.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in data analytics or data integration, including 3+ years within asset management, capital markets, or financial technology.
  • Proven track record of delivering large-scale complex data initiatives.
  • Expert at writing SQL queries and data analysis with python.
  • Extensive experience creating visualization using various tools such as PowerBI, and Tableau.
  • Expert at pulling, cleaning, and manipulating large sets of data into insights.
  • Familiarity with the front office investment platforms (e.g. Aladdin, eFront) and database systems (e.g. Snowflake).
  • Strong understanding of the investment lifecycle across public fixed income and alternative asset classes, including public and private credit, private equity, real estate, secondaries and similar strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Be the driving force behind the Office of the CIO (OCIO) data transformation initiative, defining data strategy, business requirements and roadmaps, and ensuring timely execution of OCIO objectives.
  • Act as a domain expert across investment data.
  • Partner with Investors, Engineers, and QA teams to translate investment needs into data requirements, acceptance criteria, and prioritization pipeline.
  • Facilitate sessions and drive discussions to uncover critical and/or hidden requirements, the true business need, and associated risks.
  • Translate complex investment instruments and reference data (e.g., fixed income, derivatives, private markets) into standardized structures to enable cross-asset analytics.
  • Leverage the data assets to provide recommendations and convey key insights to answer business questions.
  • Communicate data insights and findings across the organization via presentations & documents.
  • Create re-usable data assets for the firm by acquiring, digesting, and analysing raw datasets.
  • Work closely with AI teams supporting the data delivery to AI use cases, including agentic workflows, LLMs and other traditional machine learning needs.
  • Create unique and descriptive visualizations that bring data to life, intuitively telling the story behind data.
  • Manage discussions, conflicts, and negotiations through to resolution, using communication strategies that align with different audience styles, environments and/or cultures.
  • Work in collaboration with teams across SLC Management and SLF Corporate.
