PGIM•San Francisco, CA
•$150,000 - $175,000•Hybrid

About The Position

PGIM Real Estate is seeking a Director of Data & Analytics for its Global Business Enablement team. The Director will influence how Real Estate captures, scales, and applies information across the investment lifecycle, helping shape the operating model for analytics, automation, and decision-making. The role partners with investment, portfolio, asset, operating, and functional teams to identify important decisions, establish shared definitions, prioritize high-value opportunities, and remain accountable for adoption and value realization. The Director owns business decisions and leadership that ensure analytics capabilities address the right problems. Systems partners own architecture, engineering, dashboards, and production delivery. The Director translates strategy and operational needs into scalable information capabilities, leads business alignment and validation, and communicates roadmaps, risks, dependencies, and results to executives. The role also involves working directly with data and source systems, investigating discrepancies, validating calculations and assumptions, and turning recurring analytical requests into reusable datasets and analytics. This is a hybrid role based on-site three times per week in Newark, New Jersey, or New York, New York.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, real estate, information systems, data/analytics, or a related field.
  • Significant experience leading data, analytics, information, or decision-support initiatives in Commercial Real Estate, investment management, or a similar environment.
  • Deep understanding of investment, portfolio, asset, or operating decisions, and credibility to challenge assumptions and align senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to frame complex business questions, define scalable information requirements, and translate strategy into prioritized roadmaps and measurable outcomes.
  • Ability to work effectively with engineers, data professionals, and dashboard developers without taking over their technical delivery responsibilities.
  • Exceptional stakeholder leadership, facilitation, communication, and executive storytelling skills, including building consensus across business areas with differing priorities and terminology.
  • Strong judgment amid ambiguity, with a practical approach to sequencing work, making trade-offs, and delivering incremental value.
  • Strong analytical instincts and willingness to work directly with data to validate assumptions, investigate issues, and build confidence in business outcomes.
  • Strong quantitative reasoning and data problem-solving skills, including experience with large, imperfect datasets and diagnosing quality, reconciliation, and lineage issues.
  • Practical understanding of data modelling, semantic layers, and how Real Estate data is structured across investment, portfolio, asset, and operating systems.
  • Intellectual curiosity about data and persistence in investigating numbers that appear incorrect.
  • Working fluency with modern analytics and data platforms, with enough technical depth to engage credibly on data models, SQL, BI tools, cloud data environments, and AI-enabled analytical experiences.
  • Collaborative, curious, and outcomes-oriented leadership style, with commitment to trusted information, responsible innovation, and continuous learning.

Nice To Haves

  • An advanced degree or relevant professional designation.

Responsibilities

  • Capture business questions and identify the users, decisions, and outcomes that matter.
  • Build and continually refine an analytics roadmap, prioritizing use cases, datasets, and capabilities by decision impact, urgency, scalability, and enterprise value.
  • Translate business strategy and operating needs into scalable information and analytics capabilities.
  • Lead alignment on terminology, calculations, ownership, and authoritative definitions, resolving competing interpretations across teams and regions.
  • Partner with Systems throughout design and delivery, providing clear business requirements and decisions.
  • Lead business validation and certification by confirming accuracy, usefulness, controls, performance, security, and readiness with appropriate stakeholders.
  • Define adoption approaches for data products, including user guidance, training, workflow integration, access, support, and communication about what questions each product can answer.
  • Govern business access and change with Data Governance and Systems teams, managing sensitive data, approving changes, preserving trusted definitions, and promoting responsible reuse.
  • Measure adoption, quality, and business impact; prioritize enhancements, scale proven capabilities, and retire content that no longer creates sufficient value.
  • Communicate roadmaps, decisions, risks, dependencies, and realized value with clarity and executive-level presence.
  • Work with data and source systems to validate assumptions, understand business meaning, and ground analytics capabilities in actual business operations.
  • Investigate variances, anomalies, and reconciliation breaks across investment, portfolio, and asset data; identify root causes and drive corrections at the source.
  • Use analytical tools to validate opportunities, test hypotheses, and confirm business value before larger investments.
  • Define and pressure-test calculations, business rules, and data definitions for key metrics, validating against source data so results reconcile across funds, regions, and systems.
  • Partner with Systems to ensure datasets and analytics capabilities accurately reflect business processes, decisions, and definitions.
  • Turn recurring analytical requests into durable datasets and reusable analytics, reducing repeated manual work and one-off spreadsheet builds.
  • Assess internal and external data sources for quality, coverage, and fit, and determine how to integrate them to answer priority business questions.
  • Interrogate analytical and AI-generated outputs for accuracy and reasonableness, applying domain knowledge before results inform decisions.
