About The Position

The Director of Curriculum plans, coordinates, and directs the development and implementation of the College catalog annually as well as collaborating to ensure the integrity of curriculum communication across multiple venues; facilitates the development and refinement of the College’s academic offerings to ensure they are relevant and current. Reports on the status of the college’s academic offerings as required by TBR/THEC. Monitors curriculum related to SACSCOC, THEC, TBR, and College policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited college required.
  • Formal or on-the-job training in database software such as Access and the software packages that may be exported to a database, such as Word and Excel
  • At least five years’ higher education combined experience in the following areas: multiple components of curriculum development systems, advising, student support services, and/or post-secondary instruction, technical writing/editing; research; program/proposal development, sufficient familiarity to identify resources, support and others with knowledge of college processes in order to successfully implement curriculum projects

Responsibilities

  • Lead the operations of the Curriculum Office and the coordination/integration of curriculum processes across college divisions and departments.
  • Develop, organize, promote, and assess bi-annual curriculum training/workshops for faculty and staff.
  • Analyze curriculum offering and prepare internal reports such as prerequisite audit, substitution/wavier report, and course-offered reports.
  • Make appropriate curriculum change recommendations to academic leadership.
  • Lead the coordination and direct the development and implementation of the College catalog.
  • Provide leadership for catalog revision and establish professional conventions ensuring consistency for the College catalog and master syllabi.
  • Direct curriculum development for the college including new courses, certificates, AAS programs, Tennessee Transfer Pathways, and curriculum modifications.
  • Collaborate with the Dean of Emerging Programs and Innovative Collaborations and Academic School Leaders on the curriculum design and implementation of new programs.
  • Coordinate with AVPAA, Student Pathway Strategies, on development, implementation, and assessment of articulation and transfer agreements.
  • Collaborate with the AVPAA to maintain accuracy of local dual credit and prior learning assessment opportunities.
  • Coordinate with AVPAA, Program Implementation Strategies, on annual academic program review to ensure accuracy and integrating of curriculum as communicated across multiple venues.
  • Lead curricula change processes.
  • Supervise Administrative Assistant, serve on multiple committees (strategic planning, academic audit, academic assessment and others as assigned).
  • Submit proposals to TBR, including modifications to programs and secondary academic applications.
  • Coordinate with TBR and the College on state-wide aligned programs, course inventory, general education inventory, and Tennessee Transfer Pathway alignment.
  • Ensure alignment with THEC academic program inventory.
  • Communicate curriculum changes with college leadership across divisions as well as external articulation and transfer partners.
  • Collaborate with academic deans to maintain appropriate CDC membership.
  • Coordinate with Curriculum Development Committee (CDC) chair to develop schedule of meeting and agendas.
  • Collaborate with administrators and faculty developers to write and submit to TBR non-curriculum proposals such as secondary program applications, off-campus center code requests, and THEC off-campus site code requests.
  • Monitor curriculum related SACSCOC, THEC, TBR and College policies.
  • Use policies to maintain College curriculum standards.
  • Prepare reports on the status of the College’s academic offerings as required by TBR/THEC.
  • Participate with committees to collect data and write curriculum sections of SACSCOC monitoring and substantive change, Academic Audit and Program Review reports as required.
  • Other duties as assigned to fulfill the strategic priorities and mission of the College.
