About The Position

At H&R Block, the Director, Creative plays a critical role in how our brand comes to life in the market. This leader owns the creative vision and output across all marketing—ensuring our work is distinctive, high-quality, and aligned to our brand strategy while performing effectively across channels. Operating at the intersection of brand, strategy, and execution, this role translates brand strategy into compelling creative systems, campaigns, and content that resonate with customers and drive business outcomes. This leader partners closely with Brand Strategy, Go-To-Market (GTM), Content, and Media teams to deliver cohesive, integrated marketing experiences. Success in this role means elevating the creative standard across the organization—delivering breakthrough ideas, ensuring consistency and impact across channels, and building a scalable, high-performing creative function. You’ll shape how H&R Block shows up in the market—owning the creative expression of a nationally recognized brand. You’ll work across the full marketing ecosystem, partnering with Brand, GTM, Media, and Product teams. You’ll lead and build a creative function focused on delivering breakthrough, high-impact work. You’ll have the opportunity to elevate creative standards and drive meaningful business impact at scale.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of experience in creative leadership, advertising, or brand marketing
  • Proven experience leading integrated marketing campaigns across multiple channels
  • Strong creative point of view with the ability to translate strategy into compelling, effective work
  • Experience managing and inspiring creative teams across design, copy, and production
  • Experience leading and partnering with external creative agencies
  • Deep understanding of brand systems, storytelling, and content strategy
  • Ability to balance creativity with performance and business goals
  • Strong collaboration and influencing skills across cross-functional teams
  • Experience operating in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment

Responsibilities

  • Own the creative vision across all marketing, ensuring work is distinctive, high-quality, and aligned to brand strategy
  • Define and evolve the creative expression of the brand across campaigns, channels, and customer touchpoints
  • Lead development of breakthrough campaign concepts and creative platforms that connect with customers and drive results
  • Partner with Brand Strategy and GTM teams to shape briefs, narratives, and integrated marketing initiatives
  • Provide direction, guidance, and final approval on major creative work to ensure consistency and impact
  • Own and manage relationships with external creative agencies—setting direction, evaluating output, and ensuring alignment to brand and business goals
  • Define scalable creative and content systems that enable efficient execution across channels
  • Ensure creative is platform-native, adaptable, and optimized for performance across digital, social, retail, and emerging channels
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing internal creative team across design, copy, and production
  • Drive cross-functional alignment to ensure cohesive campaign execution and consistent brand storytelling across the enterprise
