About The Position

This role is for a Director of Connectivity Services within Abbott's Cardiac Rhythm Management division, focusing on marketing and digital health strategies. The position involves leading the team responsible for Connectivity and "Digital Health" initiatives, including Merlin, Merlin.net, Merlin@Home, Merlin on Demand, and new Merlin programmers. The leader will develop and introduce services for apps, reduce digital costs, create sales force enablement platforms, implement marketing automation, and establish metrics and optimization. This is a highly visible role interacting with senior leadership daily, requiring partnership with internal and external stakeholders to maximize the value of the Merlin platform. The role also drives the technical direction of platform investments, manages the solution engineering of digital projects, and participates in the development of global enterprise analytics products/platforms, crucial for a sustainable analytics and information ecosystem and best-in-class marketing programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Marketing, Business, Market Development, or related field.
  • 15+ years of experience in marketing or IT, including international experience with in a global company.
  • Extensive service marketing / IT project management experience desired.
  • Experience supervising staff, specifically managing managers and producing results through others.
  • Exceptional leadership skills, provide mentoring and development to direct reports and able to work effectively through the direct report to accomplish goals and objectives.
  • Experience prioritizing and managing project initiatives across multiple functions and/or business units.
  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business model.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced changing environment -- multi-tasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner.
  • Strong project management, team skills, and influential management.
  • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
  • Adept at handling multiple assignments in a timely manner and meeting assigned deadlines.
  • Ability to travel, approximately 40%, including internationally.

Responsibilities

  • Drives Connectivity strategy for all Merlin assets in conjunction with cross-functional partners.
  • Develops and executes new service strategies to support CRM BU strategy.
  • Establishes or evolves services and platforms to accelerate adoption and value realization of emerging technologies including service platforms, content analytics, marketing automation, mobile accessibility, and global connectivity platforms.
  • Creates clear, compelling, data-driven recommendations, POVs and other deliverables that support annual marketing initiatives by using market research and insights from analytics to shape and refine connectivity.
  • Maintains best practice documentation and educates stakeholders on SEO, analytics, and IDT best practices.
  • De-constructs competitive best practices in digital/ services marketing, creates benchmarks and establishes development road maps to capture near-term opportunities and long-term success.
  • Promulgates systems and platforms that enable data-driven content amplification and paid promotion strategies that align with our goals.
  • Works closely with the various marketing/ cross BU stakeholders involved with the implementation and management of those strategies.
  • Provides support and strategic guidance for the teams within Connectivity/ Merlin/ Services Marketing: marketing analytics, sales enablement systems, instructional design and technology (IDT), platform innovation.
  • Collaborates closely with content strategy, social services, and web teams on continuous improvement and implementation projects.
  • Provides consultation and direction for the development of any digital property including: apps, websites, email, social, campaigns, etc.
  • Builds key internal and external partnerships in order to provide digital experience services and solutions that enhance customer experiences, UI, platform design, optimization / efficiency of digital business support, etc.
  • Participates in key project strategy sessions, contributing digital/interactive/new services ideas.
  • Extracts value from our data through oversight of data audits, aggregation, enhancements and statistical analysis.
  • Demonstrates exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a noted ability to communicate complex or digital/social / communications concepts to a non-technical audience.
  • Collaborates effectively across the organizational matrix, with colleagues from a range of disciplines including Marketing, MarCom, Education, Sales, IT and others within our business units and corporate organizations.
  • Oversees assigned digital team members and contributes to their professional development and growth.
  • Participates in the Abbott Corporate Digital & Social Services Board and supports development of corporate digital content strategy and technology systems.
  • Highlights digital issues or obstacles that stand in the way of attaining business objectives.
  • Builds strong relationships with third-party suppliers; manages vendors that work on our projects and partners with internal resources (i.e. vendor management, etc.) to develop those relationships.
  • Drives down Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) by establishing appropriate functionality to avoid silos in the ecosystem and reduces redundant capabilities through rationalization and appropriate enterprise reference architecture standards for all platforms.
  • Through the observation of market trends, best practices, and new, establishes and cultivates a culture of test and learn, continually identifying new test ideas with an eye on improving the customer experience across all device types.
