About The Position

The Director of Community Engagement provides leadership for volunteer engagement, community partnerships, and outreach initiatives that strengthen the impact and visibility of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Dallas. This position is responsible for cultivating strategic relationships with volunteers, corporate partners, community organizations, and civic leaders while overseeing programs and events that foster meaningful community involvement. As a key representative of the organization, the Director advances opportunities that increase awareness, engagement, and support for the Club's mission across the Greater Dallas region.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Nonprofit Management, Communications, Public Relations, Business Administration, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of progressive experience in volunteer management, community engagement, partnership development, or a related nonprofit function.
  • Proven track record cultivating and sustaining community and corporate partnerships with measurable outcomes.
  • Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and inspire diverse stakeholders including community partners, volunteers, corporate contacts, and Club staff.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing outreach materials, impact reports, newsletters, and partner correspondence.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); comfort with volunteer management platforms, CRM systems, or similar tools.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends as required by community events and engagement activities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategy and execution for volunteer recruitment, screening, onboarding, training, scheduling, and retention across all Club sites and programs.
  • Design meaningful volunteer experiences that are aligned with youth outcomes, organizational priorities, and the skills and interests of individual volunteers.
  • Build and maintain systems to track volunteer participation, hours, impact metrics, and retention data; work with VP of Administration to provide regular reports to leadership.
  • Establish and maintain policies and procedures for volunteer participation that reflect Club standards and ensure a safe, welcoming experience for all.
  • Identify and develop volunteer pipelines through partnerships with corporations, universities, schools, communities, and civic organizations.
  • Oversee the volunteer application process, partnering with the HR department to facilitate background checks.
  • Plan and execute volunteer appreciation initiatives and recognition activities to sustain high levels of engagement and long-term commitment.
  • Cultivate and manage relationships with corporate, civic, nonprofit, and community partners that support Club programming, community visibility, and funding opportunities.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for partnership growth, including corporate volunteer days, in-kind contributions, co-sponsored programs, and community collaborations.
  • Support stewardship of existing partners through consistent communication, impact reporting, and relationship-building activities that strengthen long-term engagement.
  • Serve as a primary community-facing representative of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Dallas, maintaining an active and positive presence among external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the Development and Program teams to align partnership opportunities with organizational priorities and funding strategies.
  • As needed, support the VP of Administration in working in partnership with the Development team to ensure a seamless transition of potential corporate partners to donors, and vice versa.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute community-facing events and engagement opportunities, including volunteer resource fairs, neighborhood outreach activities, club-sponsored events (e.g., Breakfast of Champions), small-scale fundraising events (e.g., sponsored golf tournaments), club open houses, and other initiatives that increase awareness of and engagement with Club programs.
  • Manage all aspects of event planning and execution, including logistics, communications, vendor and sponsor relationships, volunteer coordination, budget tracking, and event-day operations to ensure high-quality experiences for participants, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with internal departments, community partners, and organizational leadership to develop and implement new event concepts and engagement strategies that strengthen community presence, support fundraising objectives, and advance organizational goals.
  • Evaluate event and outreach outcomes using defined metrics, including attendance, sponsorship revenue, volunteer engagement, donor cultivation, community partnerships, and participant feedback. Prepare summary reports with recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Track and report community engagement, event participation, and impact data on an ongoing basis; contribute findings to annual reports, grant documentation, board presentations, and organizational planning efforts as needed.
