About The Position

The Commercial National Accounts (CNA) group provides dedicated relationship coverage to larger commercial clients across all industry sectors, typically those with credit facilities exceeding $25 million and/or annual sales greater than $150 million, including all commercial clients with syndicated credit facilities. This group comprises senior commercial banking professionals with specific industry knowledge and extensive deal structuring experience, offering customized credit and cash management solutions. The Director, Loan Syndications reports to the Vice President and Head of Loan Syndications, focusing on the origination, structuring, distribution, and marketing of TD-led syndicated loans in the Canadian bank market. The Syndications group collaborates closely with all C.N.A. deal teams nationally to support their growth strategy through the loan syndication process.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate business degree or related work experience
  • Experience in leading syndicated transactions or at a minimum participating in syndicated loan transactions in the Canadian Commercial or Corporate bank market
  • Strong knowledge of syndicated deal structures
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a dynamic fast paced team environment
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage to multiple deadlines
  • Excellent credit/risk management skills
  • Solid financial statement analysis skills
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship skills coupled with analytical ability
  • Ability to travel as required

Responsibilities

  • Support deal teams in promoting TD’s capabilities to provide syndicated loan facilities to our clients
  • Act as a key advisor to C.N.A. deal teams in the structuring and pricing of TD-led syndicated transactions
  • Assist deal teams in the preparation and delivery of written and verbal presentations to clients, and the preparation of detailed term sheets
  • In conjunction with deal teams, manage, maintain and develop client relationships
  • Ensure financing proposals address the requirements of the client, TD's risk appetite, and the needs of lenders in the syndicated bank market
  • Develop syndication strategies for the distribution of syndicated financings to ensure TD achieves its targeted hold position
  • Production and distribution of marketing materials required in the syndication process including information memorandums, invite letters, and other related documents
  • Manage potential syndicate participants throughout the syndication process including: i) providing prompt and thorough responses to any questions, and ii) providing guidance with respect to credit issues to assist potential syndicate participants in obtaining their credit approvals
  • Maintain and develop relationships with investors primarily in Canada to ensure our proposals meet their needs with respect to price, structure, hold levels and industry to ensure the successful sell-down of TD-led syndications
  • In conjunction with the deal teams, deal with amendments, waivers, etc. to loan agreements in a timely and professional manner through liaison with clients, syndicate participants, external legal counsel, and other interested internal or external parties
