About The Position

By joining the Strategy function within Commercial Banking Chief Operating Officer’s (COO) team, you will have the opportunity to help shape strategy and support execution in some of the highest priority areas for the business. In this highly dynamic role, your work will span across multiple files in three broad domains: Strategic projects, Strategic planning & performance management, and Insights & Innovation. The Commercial Banking COO team serves as a key horizontal across the business, providing an excellent platform from which to drive impact. You will have the opportunity to partner closely with and learn from teams across the business including Product, Distribution, Risk and Finance.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience either in management consulting or in an internal corporate strategy team
  • At least 2+ years in an Engagement Manager / Project Leader (or similar) role
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced environment, comfort with ambiguity, and ability to deliver on multiple fronts simultaneously
  • Strong intellectual curiosity of topics impacting the future of Commercial Banking in Canada
  • Excellent analytical abilities with ability to synthesize data into actionable insights
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong people skills and ability to drive collaboration and alignment across a wide array of stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Own the success of strategy projects across a wide variety of topic areas, ensuring strategic direction, high-quality deliverables and business impact
  • Contribute thought leadership by developing the problem-solving approach, translating data into insights, and insights into compelling narratives
  • Act as a day-to-day point of contact for peer teams engaged on the project, ensuring strategic alignment and buy-in on approach and outcomes across key stakeholder groups
  • Lead project teams, acting as a coach and mentor and fostering alignment with RBC’s Blueprint values and behaviors
  • Support strategic planning and goal-setting processes
  • Support performance management processes, especially those related to financial quarter-end
  • Partner closely with the Finance and Transformation teams on joint exercises
  • Lead insight development on key topics spanning technological, competitive, and macroeconomic change
  • Establish and implement mechanisms to help ensure the business has the insights and data required to stay ahead of the curve in a fast-changing environment
  • Lead targeted research and analysis sprints
  • Facilitate executive discussions to drive decisions and articulate ‘top of house views’ on key topics
