About The Position

The University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) is seeking a Director for the College of Engineering Career Center. This role is responsible for developing and directing comprehensive programs and services to meet the career advancement needs of undergraduate and graduate students in the College of Engineering. The Director will oversee systems and programs including staff development, employer relations, student outreach, financial management, and the annual Engineering Career Fairs. UIC is a major urban public research university, serving over 34,000 students and is one of the largest employers in Chicago.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Education, HR, Counseling or a related field.
5 years of experience in Career Services, Business, HR, Counseling or a related field.
Knowledge of career development and services, corporate recruitment or human resources.
Communication, organization, presentation, analytical and computer/PC skills.
Proven track record of leading a team, organizing large and small scale events, and presenting to students and upper management.

Nice To Haves

Master's Degree in Education, Career Counseling, Higher Education, HR or a related field.
5 years of administrative and/or leadership role experience in career services or a higher education career-related role.
Knowledge of Higher Education, career development, corporate recruitment, placement and career services.
Job platform systems, financial/budget management and project management skills.
Ability to research and compare outside vendors; developing curriculum and training faculty.

Responsibilities

Directs the Engineering Career Center, establishing the strategic direction of services and programs for student career development.
Works with the College of Engineering business office on financial operations, including purchases, salaries, events, and facilities.
Hires, trains, and develops Engineering Career Center staff, providing assessments and evaluations.
Promotes active involvement in professional career-related associations and groups.
Develops, oversees, and fosters corporate and employer relations with executives, HR, and alumni, as well as student development programs.
Serves on committees to represent the Center's interests in campus-wide initiatives.
Plans, creates, coordinates, and presents on-campus job fairs and career preparation workshops.
Prepares and presents related employment data and reports.
Conducts research on employment trends, career opportunities, occupational outlook, salary trends, and career development practices.
Performs other duties as assigned.
