About The Position

The Texas Medical Center (TMC) is seeking a leader to formalize and expand its clinical advisory network. This network, comprised of physicians, nurses, advanced practice providers, clinical research professionals, and other clinical experts, currently supports founders and programs but needs a more robust and scalable structure to meet the demands of TMC's growing innovation ecosystem. The Director will own the network end-to-end, deepening existing relationships, recruiting new experts across various specialties, and shaping the network into a defining resource for healthcare innovation. This role involves building a lasting platform from a proven concept, moving from informal participation to structured engagement that provides mutual value to advisors and founders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business, scientific, clinical, or healthcare-related field.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in business development, partnerships, account management, or relationship-driven roles, including direct engagement with clinical professionals or healthcare executives.
  • Demonstrated track record of building and maintaining trusted senior-level relationships and translating them into results.
  • Working knowledge of the healthcare, academic medical center, or life-sciences landscape.
  • Experience leading initiatives or teams in an environment with evolving priorities and limited existing structure.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree (MBA, MPH, MS, MD, RN, PharmD, PhD, or equivalent clinical/scientific training).
  • Experience in healthcare innovation, startups, venture capital, or technology commercialization.
  • Familiarity with translational research, clinical trials, or first-in-human / early-feasibility study pathways.
  • Prior experience designing or scaling a network, platform, advisory program, or similar relationship-based offering.
  • People-management experience and a history of partnering with product or operations teams to build scalable processes.

Responsibilities

  • Steward and deepen existing advisor relationships while recruiting new clinical experts across all disciplines and TMC institutions.
  • Serve as the primary relationship owner and ambassador for the advisory network, building trust and engagement.
  • Understand each advisor’s expertise and interests to optimize their contributions (e.g., feedback, pilot championing, research support).
  • Evolve advisor engagement models to create mutual value for advisors and founders.
  • Expand the network’s service to the broader TMC ecosystem, including accelerator companies, the TMC Venture Fund, and external partners.
  • Represent TMC Innovation with hospital leadership, clinical departments, sponsors, and external partners.
  • Shape the network’s external identity and long-term model as it matures into a recognized platform.
  • Build a robust, repeatable structure for connecting the right advisor with the right company at the right moment.
  • Partner with product and operations colleagues on tools and processes for network efficiency and scalability.
  • Raise the consistency and quality of advisor engagements and coach founders on maximizing advisor interactions.
  • Coordinate with program leads to anticipate clinical needs across accelerator cohorts, venture diligence, and clinical studies.
  • Track engagement and identify network growth areas, coverage gaps, and emerging demand.
  • Build institutional knowledge to inform future innovation and portfolio decisions.
  • Provide leadership with clear, regular readouts on the network’s reach, health, and impact.
