About The Position

The Director Certificate Services will be responsible for building, mentoring, and retaining a high-performing operations team, establishing clear performance metrics, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. This role involves developing and executing long-term operational strategies aligned with organizational goals, including capacity planning, technology roadmaps, and resource allocation. The Director will oversee PKI infrastructure, certificate lifecycle management, and related systems, ensuring adherence to SLAs and Standards. A key aspect of the role is maintaining compliance with operational procedures to support audit readiness, providing oversight of the operations team, and maintaining Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). The Director will also evaluate, negotiate, and manage relationships with technology vendors and service providers, and report on operational metrics to leadership, communicating complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences. Identifying inefficiencies and implementing AI, automation, tools, and best practices to optimize operations is crucial. The role is responsible for stakeholder alignment, vendor and platform strategy, governance, and ensuring Certificate Services solutions support enterprise security, business needs, and future state architectures. This includes supporting the creation and maintenance of Certificate Services roadmaps, gathering internal and external feedback for product improvements, and working with technical specialists to ensure projects and operations meet enterprise architectural and technology standards. The Director will participate in the development and delivery of Certificate Services, ensuring initiatives are completed within defined time, scope, and budget constraints, while identifying opportunities for cost savings and more efficient operations while managing risks. Promoting digital certificate best practices, strategy, and vision across the organization through successful delivery, roadshows, and participation in events is also a key responsibility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
  • 7+ years in IT operations, infrastructure management, or related technical roles
  • 5+ years in a leadership or management position overseeing technical teams
  • Proven experience managing critical infrastructure with high availability requirements
  • Understanding of security, compliance, and risk management in regulated environments
  • Strong project management and organizational skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in financial services, healthcare, or other regulated industries
  • Familiarity with PKI tools (Venafi, DigiCert, Microsoft CA, etc.)
  • Knowledge of cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, OCP) and hybrid operations
  • Experience with IT Service Management (ITSM) platforms
  • Experience with DevOps, or automation frameworks
  • Understanding of cryptography fundamentals
  • Prior experience with digital certificate management at scale
  • Vendor management

  • Gathering internal and external feedback to identify potential new products or improvements to existing products.
  • Work with technical specialist to facilitate decisions to ensure that all Certificate Services projects/development and operations meet enterprise architectural and technology standards
  • Participate in the development and delivery of Certificate Services, ensuring initiatives are completed within defined time, scope, and budget constraints.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and more efficient operations while continuing to manage risks.
  • Drive continuous improvement through data-driven insights and industry best practices
  • Promote digital certificate best practices, strategy, and vision across the organization through successful delivery, roadshows and participation in events.
