About The Position

Denison University seeks a student-centered, innovative, and relational leader to serve as the Director of the Alford Community Leadership & Involvement Center (CLIC). This role is central to advancing a vibrant, engaging, and inclusive campus experience where students are not only participants but co-creators of community, leadership, and social life. The Director will lead a dynamic team of professional and student staff in cultivating a distinctly Denison model of involvement, one that integrates leadership development, civic engagement, student organizations, social connection, and high-impact campus experiences. This leader will champion a vision of campus life that is energetic, visible, and student-driven, ensuring that Denison’s co-curricular experience supports student engagement on and off campus. This role requires a leader who is creative, collaborative, and forward-thinking, with a deep understanding of today’s college students and a passion for building environments where all students can find connection, purpose, and belonging. Denison University is an independent, coeducational, residential college of liberal arts and sciences.   • Willingness to serve in the university on-call rotation.
  • Ability to center the student experience in all decisions.
  • Experience maintaining a visible campus presence and overseeing student organizations.
  • Ability to ensure consistent delivery of high-impact events.
  • Experience serving as an advisor to student government associations.
  • Ability to strengthen faculty and staff engagement in student life.
  • Proficiency in using data to inform decisions and demonstrate impact.
  • Ability to align initiatives with institutional priorities.
  • Experience overseeing budget and operations.
  • Experience developing and implementing a clear, compelling marketing strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a high-performing team through clear expectations, regular feedback, and accountability.
  • Foster a collaborative culture and build strong partnerships across campus to advance shared goals.
  • Supervises the work of assigned personnel, including assigning and reviewing work, providing guidance, and conducting performance evaluations.
  • Provide clear direction for student involvement and campus life, aligning priorities with Denison’s mission.
  • Drive the growth, energy, and visibility of signature events and traditions.
  • Provide organization development by meeting with student leaders, leader development, and event support.
  • Performs administrative tasks such as emails, campus engagement platform (WhatoDU) management, serving and chairing committees, and student government funding purchases.
  • Coordinates leadership education, including facilitation, curriculum, and workshops.
  • Supports large-scale campus-wide events, traditions, service projects, and party registration process.
  • Serve in the university on-call rotation.
  • Center the student experience in all decisions, ensuring students actively shape programs and traditions.
  • Maintain a visible campus presence, oversee student organizations, and ensure the consistent delivery of high-impact events.
  • Serve as advisor to Denison Campus Governance Association (DCGA) and strengthen faculty and staff engagement in student life.
  • Use data to inform decisions and demonstrate impact.
  • Align initiatives with institutional priorities, while overseeing budget, operations, and a clear, compelling marketing strategy that elevates the Denison experience.
