Director, Business Operations

Perry WeatherDallas, TX
Onsite

About The Position

Perry Weather is experiencing rapid growth (80%+ annually) and is proactively hiring to maintain execution quality as the company scales from 50 to 150 and then to 250 employees. This role is a dedicated function focused on architecting for scale, addressing operational systems, cross-functional projects, and department-level transformations. The Director of Business Operations will report to the COO and work on high-leverage problems, acting as a builder and operator rather than just an advisor. The role involves hands-on work, including system configuration, migration, process writing, and ensuring successful implementation and adoption of new systems and processes. This position offers high executive visibility and a direct impact on Perry Weather's future growth.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience, with at least 5 in management consulting focused on technology implementations, operations, or transformation work.
  • Experience as an operator at a high-growth company actively scaling.
  • Proven ability to build and implement solutions, not just scope them (provide specifics on configured systems, cleaned data, migrations run, SOPs written, vendors managed).
  • Ability to own problems end to end, staying with them until they are resolved and no longer require direct intervention.
  • Ability to earn credibility quickly, understand team dynamics, and drive action with low-ego, collaborative teams.
  • Self-directed with the ability to run one's own agenda after priorities are set by the COO.
  • Systems thinking: focus on root causes over symptoms, and the judgment to know when to execute tasks directly.
  • Ability to move between strategic (leadership team discussions) and tactical (detailed workflow analysis) levels.
  • Data fluency: comfortable with Excel, building reports in BI tools, and identifying the right metrics.
  • Hands-on experience with AI, including building and improving AI-driven workflows.
  • Proficiency in running effective meetings with clear writing and timely questions.

Nice To Haves

  • Operator time at a high-growth company that was actively scaling while you were there is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

  • Own the internal side of major systems implementations end to end, from requirements through adoption (e.g., Acumatica, Zendesk, Aircall, ERP implementation).
  • Ensure the entire organization is aligned on a successful, well-architected launch of new systems.
  • Make systems communicate with each other and partner with RevOps and Product/Engineering teams.
  • Build and own the operational metrics layer across the business, defining what is measured, where it lives, who sees it, and its impact on decisions.
  • Present operational metrics to the executive team with a clear point of view.
  • Take ownership of consequential cross-functional problems that lack a clear owner and drive them to resolution (e.g., company-wide AI adoption, customer self-installs, support ticket volume reduction, international expansion).
  • Proactively identify areas where communication is unclear, decision-making is slow, or teams are outgrowing current workflows.
  • Partner with leaders across various departments (engineering, product, manufacturing, field services, customer support, meteorology, go-to-market) on critical changes and transformations.
  • Identify and fix friction points in current processes and workflows that waste resources or degrade customer experience.
  • Build an intake and prioritization process to ensure focus on high-leverage work.
  • Utilize AI to multiply personal and team effectiveness by building and running operational workflows.
  • Maintain a long-term perspective (18 months ahead) to ensure future growth with excellence.
