About The Position

Director, Business Development Are you a rainmaker with the proven experience building off of a business need to identify potential partnerships, craft jointly beneficial relationships and marshal opportunities through the maze of internal and external decision-makers to close deals? Are you able to look at data and translate it into a story that creates a sense of urgency and drives business decisions? As a Business Development Director at Capital One you seek out exciting and new strategic partnerships, develop and mold new revenue streams and lead generation channels. You investigate opportunities, present solution options, negotiate contracts, and sustain relationships related to delivering services. You manage a broad effort to deliver across functions and in partnership with leaders in marketing, infrastructure/operations and risk management. Finally, you will build the overall institution to deliver these services and product corporate/divisional objectives for the business.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree or military experience
  • At least 5 years of sales experience
  • At least 1 year of experience in New product development
  • At least 2 years of experience in Investment Banking, Consumer Lending, Consumer Banking, or Treasury

Nice To Haves

  • Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA)
  • 8 years of experience in Sales (selling to large scale accounts)
  • 2 years of experience in Strategic consulting

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and execution of the partnerships strategy
  • Identify and establish initial contact with potential partners, research specific customer needs, and incorporate into initial partnership pitches
  • Support the proposal process for partners, including points of negotiation, pricing development, and industry benchmarking
  • Serve as primary point of contact for established partners, managing day-to-day account activities, including customer interface, troubleshooting, and determining cross-sell opportunities
  • Monitor and report on status of Partnership team activity, including lead and pipeline management, partner onboarding, sales forecasts, and ongoing partnership management metrics
  • Perform marketplace and industry analyses with the goal of identifying product opportunities, and uncovering potential market and partner plays
  • Partner with Marketing & Analysis, Infrastructure Development and Operations Teams to create customized partnership packages/services in line with partner goals and objectives and monitor internal fulfillment to assure compliance with partnership obligations
