About The Position

Schrödinger seeks a Director of Business Development to join us in our mission to transform the discovery of therapeutics and materials! Schrödinger has pioneered a physics-based software platform that enables discovery of high-quality, novel molecules for drug development and materials applications more rapidly and at lower cost compared to traditional methods. The software platform is used by biopharmaceutical and industrial companies, academic institutions, and government laboratories around the world. Our multidisciplinary drug discovery team also leverages the software platform to advance collaborative programs and its own pipeline of novel therapeutics to address unmet medical needs. As a member of our Business Development team, you’ll play a crucial role in supporting the future of value creation from therapeutics at Schrödinger. You’ll expand our portfolio through strategic partnerships and licensing and research collaboration opportunities. This role involves participation in the full deal lifecycle, from initial opportunity ideation, scouting, and rigorous due diligence management to term sheet negotiation and final execution.

Requirements

  • A deal sheet summarizing deal history - roles and dates required (please include this with your resume in your application)
  • Bachelor’s degree in life science; MBA, JD, or PhD preferred
  • At least four years of experience in business development, corporate strategy, or investment banking within the biopharma sector

Nice To Haves

  • An experienced dealmaker with a proven track record of licensing deals or research collaborations
  • A confident sell-side biotech business developer
  • A skilled data synthesizer who can use information about scientific research and disclosures, biopharma R&D investments, venture portfolios, commercial sources, and the industry pipelines of MOAs and assets to court diverse prospective partners

Responsibilities

  • Proactively identify and evaluate potential licensing partners, synergistic platform collaboration opportunities, and strategic partnerships that align with the company’s growth strategy
  • Lead and/or support cross-functional teams (e.g., R&D, Legal, Finance) in the conduct of rigorous evaluations of external opportunities
  • Support partnership workflow and negotiation of term sheets and definitive agreements (e.g., CDAs, MTAs, Licensing Agreements, Research Collaboration Agreements)
  • Serve as a point of contact for external biopharma and biotech business development representatives; attend and represent the company at industry conferences and networking events, such as JPM and BIO
