DIRECTOR BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MORTARS

CemexCorona, CA
$114,200 - $146,100Onsite

About The Position

The Director of Business Development has a critical role in developing and executing Omega’s strategic growth plan. This role will be responsible for leading efforts to drive the expansion of our commercial business, with a primary focus on EIFS and façade systems. This is a market‑shaping role, responsible for increasing Omega’s presence in architectural specifications, expanding into new and underpenetrated commercial and geographical markets, and strengthening strategic relationships with key distributors and industry influencers. Unlike a traditional sales or revenue‑quota role, this position is focused on upstream demand creation—influencing the market before projects reach bid and purchase phases. Success will be measured by increased specification activity, stronger distributor alignment, and sustained commercial market growth.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in commercial construction materials, ideally with EIFS, stucco, or façade systems.
  • Proven background in business development, specification influence, or market expansion, rather than purely transactional sales.
  • Background as a technical representative, architectural rep, or hybrid technical/business development role.
  • Strong understanding of distributor‑driven construction markets and channel dynamics.
  • Experience making joint calls with architects and specifiers and presenting technical or systems‑based solutions.
  • Excellent relationship‑building skills with the ability to influence without formal authority.
  • Comfortable operating at both strategic and field levels.
  • Strong strategic thinking and business acumen.
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to translate technical systems into compelling value propositions.
  • Self‑directed, collaborative, and energized by building long‑term market positions—not just short‑term wins.
  • Advanced financial modeling, valuation, and analytical skills.
  • Exceptional leadership, collaboration, and influencing capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and executive presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint), Power BI; SAP experience preferred; Python desirable.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with urgency and discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a national commercial market growth strategy, with emphasis on EIFS, plaster wall systems, and MAVS.
  • Identify and prioritize new geographic markets where Omega can grow sales and put together the market strategy.
  • Build and deepen strategic relationships with national and regional distributors, helping define where and how Omega should best compete in commercial markets.
  • Increase the number of specifications Omega is listed in by targeting new architects and specifiers.
  • Support and lead architectural presentations, lunch‑and‑learns, and joint calls with sales and technical teams.
  • Work with marketing and technical services to strengthen Omega’s specifications, details, products, marketing, and presentations, particularly versus leading EIFS competitors.
  • Conduct ongoing market, competitive, and trend analysis focused on EIFS and commercial façade systems.
  • Monitor competitive activity and identify opportunities where Omega can win through specification, system differentiation, or market strategy.
  • Serve as an internal resource on commercial EIFS market dynamics, including decision‑makers, influencers, and buying behavior.
  • Act as a connector between sales, marketing, technical services, and product development, ensuring the commercial strategy is executable in the field.
  • Provide dotted‑line leadership and mentorship to commercial, architectural, or technical resources as the program evolves.
  • Strengthen Omega’s reputation as a credible, specification‑worthy commercial systems manufacturer.
  • Conduct market research on new geographical markets that Omega can begin selling into, including identifying distributors, applicators, builders, and architects.
  • Determine potential product demand and short-term and long-term logistics to meet that demand, including greenfield projects, strategic partnerships, capital investments, and supply chain optimization initiatives.
  • Lead financial analysis and valuation of new opportunities, including market sizing, strategic fit, risk assessment, and probability analyses.
  • Develop relationships with key stakeholders in these markets.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and industry developments to inform strategic decision-making; support network footprint evaluation and optimization to improve cost, service, and resilience.
  • Collaborate with distributor partners on commercial market entry strategies, stocking approaches, and marketing support.
  • Provide insight into distributor purchasing behavior and regional autonomy to help guide Omega’s market strategy.
