About The Position

The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB) is seeking a Director for the Bureau of Product Management. This leadership role is responsible for managing the selection and lifecycle of wine and spirits products to meet customer demands for the Fine Wine & Good Spirits (FW&GS) stores, which generate approximately $3.02 billion in annual sales. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to engage and influence stakeholders, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Retail sales experience, particularly in the CPG or beverage alcohol industry with leadership responsibilities, is highly desirable.

Requirements

  • Six years of experience in a retail chain store environment, including two years in a management position that included experience in product purchasing, sales, merchandising, marketing, and business management.
  • A bachelor’s degree with major course work in marketing, business administration, or closely related field; or An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes two years in a retail management position that included experience in product purchasing, sales, merchandising, marketing, and business management.
  • Five years of experience in direct oversight of product purchasing and managing the product lifecycle.
  • Five years of experience negotiating pricing with multiple suppliers and establishing new products within the marketplace.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions.
  • Must pass a background investigation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop strategies for product selection, category growth, and innovation based on data and customer needs.
  • Manage product performance by analyzing results and directing decisions to expand, refresh, mark down, or discontinue items.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, promotions, and partnerships with vendors, brand owners, and suppliers.
  • Coordinate with marketing, merchandising, supply chain, store operations, and ecommerce teams to implement strategic initiatives.
  • Review sales and category performance data to guide adjustments to pricing, assortment, and promotional plans.
  • Lead, coach, and develop staff to ensure effective operations within the Bureau of Product Management.
