About The Position

USA Triathlon is seeking a builder to lead brand, storytelling, and fandom across its brands: USA Triathlon, USA TRI, and the USA Triathlon Foundation, in preparation for the LA 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The role involves celebrating age group athletes, clubs, coaches, race directors, and youth for USA Triathlon; promoting elite and development pipeline athletes for USA TRI; and connecting with donors through meaningful storytelling for the Foundation brand. The primary goal is to connect these brands, transforming elite inspiration into grassroots participation and audiences into fans, members, donors, and partners. This is a build role, requiring the creation of a content engine to leverage the upcoming home Games. The work is crucial for the sport's, athletes', and organization's long-term benefit. The ideal candidate will set high standards, lead a small team effectively, and operate efficiently with modest resources.

Requirements

  • 8–10+ years in brand, content, marketing, or communications, with significant leadership experience.
  • Track record of leading teams to success and upskilling existing teams.
  • Proven success in building a content operation that published consistently and grew audience and engagement.
  • Strong story instincts and creative direction across social, video, digital, editorial, and experiential channels.
  • Comfort using data to prioritize.
  • Discipline to deliver high-quality work with limited resources.
  • Experience in sports, entertainment, nonprofit, or a mission-driven consumer brand.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with the Olympic and Paralympic movement or a professional sports property.
  • Content experience supporting fundraising or sponsorship revenue.
  • Familiarity with endurance or participation-based sport.

Responsibilities

  • Own and lead brand positioning, voice, and expression for USA TRI, USA Triathlon, and USA Triathlon Foundation brands.
  • Develop and implement a content engine strategy, including editorial calendar, production workflow, and standards for consistent, high-volume publishing across social, video, digital, and editorial channels.
  • Identify, prioritize, and manage a pipeline of athlete narratives (elite, development, junior, and age group).
  • Drive organic growth of owned audiences and engagement, converting attention into membership and participation in collaboration with Growth Marketing.
  • Create storytelling to support the USA Triathlon Foundation and Elevate28 campaign, content programs for corporate partners, and stories that foster connection to organizational products and programs.
  • Lead and coach a team of three, setting clear expectations and high standards for quality and velocity.
  • Manage the budget, agencies, and freelancers to extend capacity.
  • Ensure compliance with USOPC, IOC, and IPC brand and athlete marketing guidelines, including Rule 40.
