About The Position

We’re looking for an experienced Brand Director to lead our lead our Basketball Brand Marketing team in New York City as well as play a key role in shaping the future of Nike Basketball from the epicenter of hoops. To be considered for this role, you must have an unrivaled understanding of the New York City basketball consumer and city landscape, be a consumer and hoops obsessed marketer, a team-first collaborator, energy-giving partner, and brand innovator with an openness to learn. As part of our New York City Brand Management team, you will live and breathe New York hoops and be the voice and advocate for our consumer. You will leverage your deep basketball knowledge and relationships across New York City grassroots programs, leagues, and communities to activate the stories we tell and the moments we create. Reporting directly to the Senior Director of NYC Brand Management, this role will be a critical pillar of our city offense, helping to drive brand relevance and create lasting connections with athletes in the city and beyond. You will be on the cutting edge of driving innovative strategies for NYC sport and culture that will have an impact and influence on the global stage. Qualified candidates should have experience leading brand strategy, orchestrating cross-channel marketing plans, navigating partnerships with athletes, leagues, and community organizations, brilliantly executing seasonal activations across the city, and managing diverse teams. They should also have a comprehensive grasp of the NYC sport landscape, particularly basketball a keen sense of nuances and intricacies of the NYC basketball communities and key figures along with the ability to lead multiple projects across a matrixed organization. You will partner with our North America Men’s Brand Management team and marketing functional partners to bring a NYC dimension to brand marketing plans, inclusive of marketing briefs, storytelling, marketing initiatives and activations that fuel our seasonal priorities and long-term community goals. You will work with Geo & City Brand and functional partners to drive a robust plan for NYC Basketball and continually build new consumer experiences that accelerate basketball brand and business growth opportunities internally and externally, setting the stage for from NYC basketball to the world. You will champion our NYC consumer and regularly share insights to teams in NA and Global.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Marketing, Business, Communications or a closely related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in brand marketing or related experience with a deep understanding of the basketball ecosystem in NYC, across elite and everyday athletes
  • Demonstrated genuine passion and deep understanding of basketball, culture, fashion, trends and growing the sport across underserved communities.
  • Extensive knowledge of Nike basketball product and athlete portfolio
  • Experience leading and managing teams, with a team-first mentality and ability to influence decision makers
  • External facing experience with league and retail partners
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to balance creativity with organization and discipline in fast moving, ambiguous environment.

Responsibilities

  • Obsess the New York City basketball consumer and their needs, consistently delivering experiences that connect with their communities
  • Drive and deliver the NYC basketball brand strategy, delivering consistent consumer experiences and activations designed for the NYC consumer
  • Manage collaboration from idea to execution, engaging with our key cross-functional and cross-sport partners in the city and Geo
  • Lead strategic partnerships to extend Nike brand priorities through key teams, programs and communities across professional and grassroots basketball
  • Develop, plan and execute NYC seasonal basketball grassroots platforms in conjunction with Nike EYBL teammates to create inspiration and aspiration for NYC hoopers
  • Authenticate NYC’s voice in key NBA and WNBA moments and campaigns
  • Lead, manage, and develop the NYC Basketball Brand Marketing team
  • Build and nurture relationships with the NYC basketball leagues, athletes, communities, grassroots partners
  • Strategically drive basketball business growth through city marketing
  • Find new innovative ways to connect with the NYC hooper on the court and in their communities and playground
  • Partner with Sports Marketing to elevate athlete storytelling and integration into New York City programming and activations
  • Support an end-to-end process to gain insight from consumers including cultural trends and share insights regularly with the organization
  • Identify integrated opportunities between basketball and other lifestyle or sport teams to build the strongest end-in-mind experience for the consumer across performance and culture
  • Track and manage seasonal campaign progress, including recapping and teardowns and have a pulse on the city consumer to feed insights back
  • Ensure that the marketplace is at our brand standards in partnership with functional teams
