About The Position

Boston College is seeking a Director, Annual Giving & Operations / Assistant Athletics Director to manage all aspects of level 1 cash fundraising for Athletics. This role involves developing, implementing, and measuring strategies to increase current-use philanthropic revenue between $1 and $250,000. The Director will create strategies distinct from and incremental to annual and leadership giving tied to parking and seating incentives, aiming to provide significant budget relief to the University's investment in Athletics. The position will utilize one-to-one fundraising and direct marketing methods (email, mail, phone, social media), leveraging other development staff and coaches as needed. The Director is responsible for a visit goal of 60 and $1,300,000 in gifts closed, and will develop stewardship and recognition strategies for annual donors. This role also oversees donor-based parking and ticketing functions, luxury suites, and premium game day experiences, liaising with the ticket office and athletics marketing/communications teams. The Director will manage updates and content for the athletics development website and drive communication and annual giving strategy for 31 varsity programs, including the Support Your Sport Campaign. Collaboration with Advancement and Athletics leadership is crucial to align strategies with departmental and university-wide fundraising goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred.
  • Five years of fundraising experience, preferably in a complex higher education environment.
  • Proven track record of successfully soliciting and closing gifts from $10,000 to $250,000.
  • Successful staff supervisory and development skills.
  • Frequent travel, evening, and weekend work required.
  • Attendance at all home football games (7) and most basketball and hockey (30+) games is necessary.
  • Attendance at periodic special events.
  • Working knowledge of NCAA and other compliance rules.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to speak and write persuasively about higher education and the Jesuit tradition.
  • Proficiency with technology and relevant software applications, such as Google mail (Gmail), MS Word, MS Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must be a team player who is highly motivated and dedicated to the goals of advancing higher education.
  • Must have an appreciation for Jesuit Catholic education and the goals and values of Boston College.
