About The Position

The Assistant Director, Annual Leadership Giving (ALG) works as part of a high-performing, donor-centric team responsible for creating deeper connections with University of Cincinnati alumni and donors. Using a variety of channels (phone, email, video and virtual meetings) to provide information that increases constituent engagement and giving. This high-volume fundraising position focuses on the discovery and qualification of an assigned portfolio of prospects and donors. The ALG officer must be able to clearly articulate the University of Cincinnati’s mission and goals while demonstrating enthusiasm for its vision and aspirations. Comfortable with making personalized solicitations, daily use of phone, email and video and use of multiple databases and virtual communication technology is critical to success in this role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 1-3 years of experience or an advanced degree with 1 year of experience in fundraising or direct sales, preferably within the context of a higher education institution or a large non-profit organization.
  • Excellent rapport building, interpersonal skills, solicitation writing and fundraising impact storytelling are critical to the success of this role.
  • Ability to discern priorities and implement complex outreach journeys.
  • Experience in managing relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple priorities, produce quality work and meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Self-motivated, team-player.
  • Ability to apply data to enhance solicitation strategies, measure outcomes and inform future outreach.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, MS Excel, and MS Teams.
  • Valid driver’s license for local travel, and occasional night and weekend work are required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Blackbaud CRM, VanillaSoft and Tableau is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of approximately 1,000 donors and prospects. Cultivate relationships via phone, email, video, virtual meetings, text messaging, and emerging outreach technologies with a goal of moving constituents through qualifying, renewal, and upgrade cycles.
  • Actively engage and build relationships with a portfolio of alumni, donors and prospects on behalf of the university. Solicit and close gifts by leveraging dynamic outreach tactics; deploy omnichannel solicitations to increase support and drive growth in the $1,000 - $25,000 gift band.
  • Execute a daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly omnichannel outreach cadence (average a predetermined number of outbound touchpoints per day) across the portfolio to achieve consistent donor communication and fundraising goals.
  • Display excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills across all outreach mediums, especially phone, email, and virtual meetings.
  • Be knowledgeable in engagement and philanthropic opportunities across the University of Cincinnati and UC Alumni Association to inform conversations and solicitations. Deepen donor relationships that support continued and increased giving over time, strengthening the major gift donor pipeline.
  • Act as a university ambassador, providing excellent customer service and attention to alumni, donors, parents and community members. Assist constituents in identifying areas to support and making their annual gift.
  • Track all outreach, interactions and information in VanillaSoft and Blackbaud CRM. Produce contact reports in a timely and accurate fashion.
  • Utilize Tableau fundraising dashboards, CRM exports and reports to assess progress and maximize targeted outreach.
  • Support signature events, including but not limited to: Homecoming, Giving Tuesday, Alumni Week and UC Day of Giving.
  • Other duties, as assigned.
