About The Position

The Nueva School is seeking an Assistant Director of Annual Giving to join its dynamic development team. This is a hands-on program role with significant ownership, responsible for the day-to-day implementation of the Nueva Fund, managing the giving volunteer program, cultivating mid-level donors, leading the Count-Me-In Marketplace, and introducing new families to the school's philanthropic culture. The role involves close collaboration with the Associate Director of Development for Giving and the broader seven-person development team. This position is ideal for an individual with 3 to 5 years of fundraising experience looking for growth opportunities within a mission-driven school environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of fundraising experience.
  • Experience working with annual fund programs.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and donor databases.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including donor-facing communications.
  • Ability to analyze data, segment audiences, and adjust strategies.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • High level of discretion, sound judgment, and commitment to confidentiality.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Nice To Haves

  • 3–5 years of fundraising experience in an independent school or higher education setting.
  • Experience leading or managing an annual fund program.
  • Exposure to mid-level or major donor cultivation, with interest in growing in this area.
  • Experience working with and supporting volunteers.
  • Familiarity with Raiser's Edge, GiveCampus, and/or Greater Giving.
  • Experience building or improving systems and processes within a development function.
  • Self-directed, proactive approach with a strong sense of ownership.
  • Personable and relationship-oriented, with a commitment to community engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Run the Nueva Fund, collaborating on strategy, messaging, and execution.
  • Manage the annual giving calendar, maintain dashboards and reporting, and engage mid-level donors ($1,000–$9,999).
  • Manage the giving volunteer program, including recruitment, training, support, and maintaining communications infrastructure.
  • Help build a pipeline of future leadership donors and campaign ambassadors.
  • Lead new family outreach through communications, events, and touchpoints.
  • Manage New Family Ambassador volunteers.
  • Run the Count-Me-In Marketplace, from volunteer recruitment and solicitation to payment tracking and stewardship.
  • Analyze performance and evolve the Count-Me-In Marketplace program.
  • Support the upcoming comprehensive campaign through prospect identification, materials, and communications.
  • Participate in community events, including evening and weekend events, to be a visible presence.
  • Build relationships with families.
