Director, AI ML and Cloud Security

GSK
•$168,750 - $281,250

About The Position

GSK is hiring a Director, AI ML and Cloud Security to own AI architecture for Cyber Architecture and Solutions. The role is the design authority for the agentic framework and data fabric: engineering builds from specifications provided by the team, and a managed service vendor operates the resulting solutions. The director leads three architects and maintains architecture accountability across design, build, and vendor operation. The AI ML and Cloud Security team designs and builds a multi-agent platform that is moving security services across the Chief Security Office from rule-based to AI-driven operations. It owns AI architecture and engineering end to end, including the agent layer, LLM orchestration, AI and ML platform, and data fabric pipeline. The team also governs AI tool security posture, advises on cloud security across the Azure and GCP estate, and connects GSK business units and R&D with the technical AI function. Its AI security standards apply to every AI initiative at GSK. The team has 17 roles across the UK, India, and the US. This is a hands-on design authority role rather than an AI governance role. The director personally owns architecture for agent orchestration, tool invocation, identity binding, least-privilege scoping, and data flows, classifications, and controls. The role calls for designing and defending agentic and RAG architectures and their trade-offs.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of experience in cybersecurity or AI architecture, including leading technical teams across geographies.
  • Expertise in AI architecture, including agentic frameworks, data fabric architecture, AI solution blueprints, and design authority for enterprise AI/ML solutions.
  • Experience designing agentic frameworks, multi-agent systems, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures, including agent design patterns, trust models, orchestration, tool-calling boundaries, identity binding, least-privilege tool scoping, human-in-the-loop approvals, containment, kill switches, and rollback mechanisms.
  • Experience designing data fabric architectures, including data flows across systems, data classification requirements, applicable controls, and adapting architectures as agentic capabilities are introduced.
  • Experience developing AI solution blueprints for security use cases such as GenAI alert triage, automated investigations, threat summarization, and AI-driven workflows.
  • Experience establishing model and platform selection criteria for hosted and self-hosted LLMs, embeddings, vector stores, and orchestration platforms, considering security, cost, latency, and data residency requirements.
  • Experience incorporating AI security standards and threat modeling into solution design, including the EU AI Act, NIST AI Risk Management Framework (AI RMF), and ISO/IEC 42001, and translating requirements into technical specifications for engineering teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Working understanding of LangChain or LlamaIndex, vector databases, production Python, and Kubernetes.
  • AI use-case feasibility assessment and risk-based prioritization before engineering build.
  • Architecture quality review and standards governance.
  • Regulated industry experience, including applying GxP and data integrity requirements to AI.
  • North American AI architecture coverage and R&D pipeline engagement (US-based role).

Responsibilities

  • Act as design authority for every AI solution built by Cyber Architecture and Solutions, ensuring engineering receives a specification before work begins.
  • Own agentic framework architecture, including agent orchestration, tool invocation control, identity binding, least-privilege scoping, human-in-the-loop gates, and trust boundaries.
  • Own data fabric architecture, including data flows, classifications, controls, and evolution as the vendor introduces agentic capability.
  • Own the AI reference design and pattern library used by Engineering and the vendor.
  • Lead three architects covering solution architecture, standards, and governance.
  • Chair the design authority board, approving or returning Cyber Architecture and Solutions AI builds before engineering capacity is allocated.
  • Assess new AI tool proposals for architectural fit and reject proposals that do not conform.
  • Rule on feasibility for the highest-risk R&D and business AI proposals escalated by AI Business Facing.
  • Assure vendor handover packages and retain architecture accountability after the vendor begins operating solutions.
  • Set the architecture decision record template and arbitrate captured decisions so design rationale remains traceable for audit and regulatory inspection.

Benefits

  • Annual bonus.
  • Eligibility to participate in a share-based long-term incentive program, dependent on role level.
  • Health care and other insurance benefits for employees and family.
  • Retirement benefits.
  • Paid holidays.
  • Vacation.
  • Paid caregiver, parental, and medical leave.
