Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree & 5+ years of US-based pharmaceutical industry experience in market access OR marketing OR commercial roles.
  • Experience with commercial and public payer customers (i.e. PBMs, MCO, employer, Medicaid, Medicare) and the dynamics affecting the payer including industry trends, payer and channel economics, and public policy/ government regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills required with proven ability to develop and maintain trusted relationships, work well in cross-functional teams, and to lead & influence across matrix organizations (including influencing without authority).
  • Demonstrated learning agility with a high level of curiosity and motivation to manage complexity and solve problems in ambiguous environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate to Post Graduate Degree level (e.g. master, PhD) or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in Market Access.
  • Experience in or understanding of the HIV therapeutic area.
  • Strong business acumen and experience developing payer and segment specific marketing insights.
  • Strong B2B strategic thinking skills and demonstrated ability to translate customer (payer), competitive, and environmental insights into commercial strategy and tactical plans.
  • Proven problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to understand both data (quantitative) and market research (qualitative) results, draw conclusions, and make decisions at pace.
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal & presentation) with the ability to succinctly communicate complex information and present effectively to large groups and senior leaders.
  • Proven ability to translate strategic direction into action plans, manage competing priorities, and foster organizational alignment under tight timelines.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience (leading a team with direct reports, and/or significant enterprise/matrix leadership).
  • Experience working with and managing external agencies.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the compliance and regulatory environment including programs designed to educate payers on drug safety and appropriate use (FDAMA 114, pre-approval information exchange, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Lead initiatives to identify insights and understand the clinical, economic and organizational value elements that align to payer decision criteria and motivations.
  • Develop and implement branded and unbranded payer strategies for the organization that achieve access goals.
  • Collaborate within and beyond market access to lead stakeholder engagement, simplify the complex and elevate organizational understanding of the external market access environment.
  • Lead a team to create and optimize payer value propositions, tactics and tools that communicate value aligned to the needs of population-based decision makers.
  • Partner with strategic pricing, contracting and reimbursement to optimize understanding of the customer landscape and integrate price into the value narrative.
  • Collaborate with global Market Access teams to ensure accurate implementation of US environment/customer insights to inform business and launch planning.
  • Transparently communicate shifts in the access landscape and support the cross-functional triaging of access and reimbursement issues.
  • Partner with US Health Outcomes on evidence generation planning throughout the product lifecycle to validate relevant value messages based on customer needs.
  • Demonstrate superior interpersonal skills with ability to lead, influence, and gain alignment cross-functionally.
  • Supervise, coach, develop and evaluate direct report(s) including normal and customary supervisory responsibilities such as budget management, performance evaluation, coaching, development, recruitment, etc.
  • Set priorities and provide clear recommendations in complex and ambiguous circumstances.
  • Lead and manage agency and vendor relationships.
