The Continuous Improvement Leader/ATS Business Model (ABM) Leader is responsible for promoting and facilitating the successful implementation of the ATS Business Model within ATS Corporation, and specifically with continuous improvement, goal deployment (Hoshin planning), lean and growth-specific actions throughout the organization.

Requirements

  • A four-year Engineering degree or equivalent is required, specializing in electronics, electrical, mechanical or controls engineering is preferred.
  • 4-8 years of Operations, Engineering, Supervisory, and/or Management experience in a Lean-Driven Manufacturing Environment
  • Ability to accurately assess key business metrics and situations from a “general manager’s” point of view
  • Ability to design, develop, and implement an ABM (continuous improvement) roadmap for an operating business
  • Mastery of a variety of ABM (lean) tools and methodologies
  • Superior communications skills including being able to communicate to all levels of the organization including those where English is not their primary language
  • Superior training skills and adult learning theory
  • Superior influencing skills
  • Ability to translate theory to action to drive real, measurable results
  • Familiarity with various operational and commercial process and tools (eg. Sales, order processing, distributor management, CRM, ERP)
  • Hands-on experience driving continuous improvement, including Transactional Process Improvements
  • Exposure to and participation in a wide variety of training environments
  • Strong writing and administrative skills, including computer skills (word processing, graphics, spreadsheet, etc.)
  • Demonstrated proficiency in time and project management

  • MBA or master’s degree is also preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ownership of activities and results related to ABM, including measurable business metric improvements
  • Drive ever-improving results by leveraging ATS Business Model (ABM) tools, consulting skills, and change management process.
  • Assist ATS leadership in the development and execution of an ABM roadmap at ATS
  • Directly provide formal and informal ABM training and coaching
  • Ensure productive kaizen events, including post kaizen metric tracking
  • Promote and facilitate diagnosis of workflow impediments and other wastes throughout the business, and provide expert counsel on appropriate tools to eliminate them
  • Promote and facilitate associate development in various ABM tools, transactional improvements, and kaizen leadership
  • Driving ABM culture and building ABM excellence within the organization.
  • Benchmark and incorporate best practices within ATS and outside organizations
  • Assist in establishing and achieving the Goal Deployment and Strategic Plan objectives.
  • May be assigned to support specific global functions (example: Operations, Commercial Excellence) or business segments/groups, while maintaining ABM Director core responsibilities
  • Demonstrate leadership in Health, Safety and Environment compliance
  • Hold team members accountable for health, safety and environmental compliance as part of the annual performance review process
  • Ensure that the requirements of the health, safety and environment management system are implemented and maintained
  • Carry out hazard assessments, inspections, and audits as required by legislative framework and/or corporate requirements
  • Ensure that training is provided to all departmental employees are per established training matrix
  • Implement appropriate corrective measures for unsafe conditions and unsafe acts
  • Ensure that appropriate equipment, materials and protective devices are provided and maintained in safe condition
  • Provide information, instruction and supervision to employees
  • Take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of employees
