About The Position

The Director of School Choice Operations leads district strategy and implementation of the School Choice application, lottery and transfer processes, ensuring that the HISD school choice process is fair, efficient, and accurate. This role requires strong leadership, strategic planning expertise, the ability to manage teams and the ability to cultivate and maintain collaborative relationships across the district.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree
• 1 to 3 years experience working with a platform.
• 3 years managing other employees.
• Microsoft Office
• Office equipment (e.g., computer, copier)

Nice To Haves

• Experience working with senior leaders preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a clear and comprehensive strategy for the school Choice application, lotter, and transfers.
• Effectively support the school choice team who supports schools and families through the process.
• Partners with principals, District leaders and families to promote awareness, transparency and improvement of the school choice process.
• Use data to evaluate effectiveness, identify trends, and inform decisions: provide regular reports to district leadership on application data.
• Coordinate team resources and activities to meet project timelines and achieve desired outcomes, while mitigating risks and conflicts that may arise.
• Collaborate with internal and external teams as well as with the legal department to ensure that all school choice projects comply with established board and district policy and guidelines.
• Other duties as assigned.
