About The Position

Reporting directly to the Vice President of Operations, the Plant Manager will provide overall leadership for our Montreal (Ville Saint-Laurent) facility, a frozen packing, cold storage, and distribution site, setting the site's vision, priorities, and standards for safety, quality, service, cost, and people. Leading through a capable management team, the Plant Manager clarifies direction, removes barriers, secures resources, and develops people so the site consistently delivers on its goals. The Plant Manager empowers the team to run daily operations while ensuring that packing, cold storage, warehousing, distribution, quality, human resources, safety, and purchasing work together as one seamless operation, and carries full accountability for the plant's overall performance.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in plant operations, including a minimum of 5 years in a managerial role.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Operations Management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills, including hiring, coaching, and performance management.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage, influence, and build strong working relationships with stakeholders across corporate teams and other site locations.
  • Bilingual in English and French - French is essential for operating in the Quebec-based plant environment, while English is required to collaborate with national and international stakeholders across a global organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to optimize processes and improve operational efficiency.
  • Able to work independently and collaborate with all teams, acting as a change agent in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
  • Strong understanding of Lean manufacturing principles.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with ERP and/or warehouse management systems is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Set the site's vision, goals, and priorities, leading through the management team (a team of five managers) to build a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive process optimization and cost-saving initiatives across plant employees, vendors, and customers to achieve the lowest possible manufacturing cost.
  • Develop and implement supply chain, packaging, and distribution programs to ensure efficient, seamless operations from procurement through delivery.
  • Establish communication practices that keep everyone at the plant and upper management aligned on production schedules, cost, and performance.
  • Establish and maintain plant safety, quality, and food safety programs (e.g., HACCP, GMP, SQF) in compliance with CFIA requirements and cold chain standards.
  • Partner with the maintenance team on preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime and processing disruption.
  • Ensure HR programs support the selection, training, and development of plant employees, and evaluate performance against targets to optimize resources.
  • Represent the plant to regulatory bodies (e.g., CFIA, provincial and municipal authorities) and the municipality, positioning the facility as a trusted community partner.
  • Own the plant's annual operating and capital budgets, taking CAPEX projects from approval through execution.
