Direct Support Professional (DSP), Residential Services
About The Position
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) in Residential Services supports adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their homes. The role assists with daily needs, teaches life skills, encourages independence, and promotes a safe and meaningful home life. The position is full-time at 30 or more hours per week, with an awake overnight schedule Monday through Wednesday, 10:00 p.m. to 10:00 a.m., in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania. Pay is $19.00 per hour, up to $19.75 per hour with NADSP DSP certifications. An additional $1 per hour is offered for eligible second-shift and weekend hours. The employer welcomes entry-level candidates and provides training, including hands-on training for support tasks. Paid training and certifications include CPR, First Aid, and Medication Administration. Advancement opportunities are available through the Pathfinder Program or within the organization.
Requirements
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Have a valid driver’s license and at least 6 months of driving experience.
- Have access to a vehicle with valid insurance, registration, and inspection.
- Be able to communicate, read, write, and understand English.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience as a Personal Care Aide, Caregiver, Direct Support Professional (DSP), or Direct Care Worker.
- Knowledge of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and/or autism.
- NADSP DSP certification(s), which may qualify the employee for pay up to $19.75 per hour.
Responsibilities
- Assist individuals with daily living needs, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, meal preparation, and use of adaptive equipment.
- Provide transportation to appointments, activities, and community outings.
- Teach and support life skills that promote independence, confidence, and progress toward personal goals.
- Build trusting and respectful relationships through effective communication and genuine connections.
- Follow individualized support plans and document progress.
- Assist with health and safety needs, including medication support and monitoring.
- Promote meaningful activities, community involvement, and strong social connections.
- Contribute to a supportive, team-oriented environment that values compassion and respect.
