About The Position
Alternatives, Inc. is hiring a full-time Direct Support Professional (DSP) / Caregiver to support adults with developmental disabilities in a residential group home in Phillipsburg, New Jersey. The role helps residents live as independently as possible while ensuring their comfort and safety. Support includes activities of daily living, medication administration, meal preparation, personal hygiene, and transportation to medical appointments. DSPs also help implement individual behavioral plans, teach and mentor residents in developing skills and achieving goals, encourage their interests, and support participation in community outings and recreational activities. The position also involves reporting health and safety concerns and maintaining accurate, current documentation. The available schedule is Wednesday through Friday, 2:00 p.m.–10:00 p.m., and Saturday, 1:00 p.m.–9:00 p.m.; Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday are off. The listed wage is $20.75 per hour, with $22.75 per hour on weekends.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
- Ability to pass criminal and registry background checks and a drug screen.
- Clear tuberculosis (TB) screening.
- Ability to pass and maintain required trainings, including CPR/first aid, medication administration, and positive behavioral support training.
- Basic computer skills.
- Compassion, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.

Responsibilities
- Support adults with developmental disabilities in a residential group home.
