About The Position

People Creating Success is hiring a Direct Support Professional to support adults with developmental disabilities in supported living and independent living service programs in Santa Barbara. The role focuses on building genuine relationships, empowering participants, supporting their independence, and helping them pursue daily living, community, and personal goals. Work includes assistance with household and personal-care tasks, community participation, person-centered care planning, and documenting progress. Shifts are flexible and may be in the morning, evening, or overnight.

Requirements

• Compassionate, person-centered approach.
• Ability to communicate with dignity and respect, especially during challenging moments.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Responsible and able to assist with tracking progress toward goals.

Nice To Haves

• Weekend availability.
• CPR/First Aid certification; training will be provided if not certified or recertification is needed.

Responsibilities

• Support participants with daily living skills such as cleaning, cooking, and budgeting.
• Encourage and model independence, hobbies, and social activities.
• Help participants access and participate in community activities.
• Assist with personal care, including medication support, hygiene, and bathing; lifting or transferring may be required.
• Collaborate with participants on person-centered care planning.
• Record progress toward care-plan goals.
• Support individuals experiencing heightened emotional responses, complex behaviors, or sensory overload through proactive redirection and calming techniques.
• Recognize early signs of stress or escalation and guide individuals through personalized self-regulation strategies.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and detailed shift logs and progress notes.
