Key responsibilities include ensuring the safety and well-being of individuals at all times, facilitating learning in areas like fire safety, and escalating any signs of potential harm. The role requires adherence to individualized service and behavior support plans, utilizing support skills for individuals with varying needs, and demonstrating DDD Standards. Maintaining a clean and safe therapeutic environment, using safe handling procedures, and implementing infection control protocols are also essential. The position involves assisting with personal care, teaching life skills, supporting advocacy, facilitating communication, and preparing meals according to dietary needs. Transportation of individuals for various activities and appointments, managing personal allowance funds, and administering medication as prescribed are also part of the duties. The role requires operating agency vehicles, understanding specialized clinical knowledge for specific needs, implementing behavior support plans, and collecting data on individual behavior. Communication with support circles, including families and external providers, is crucial. The Direct Support Professional will be a team member, providing feedback and maintaining a solution-oriented approach. Completing all necessary trainings and certifications, reviewing communication logs, and maintaining accurate documentation in electronic health records are required. The position utilizes foundational teaching skills and understands behavior as communication. Reporting maintenance and safety concerns and consulting with leadership and clinical staff are also key functions. The role may involve participating in treatment plan development and complying with all regulatory requirements, including HIPAA. Performs all other duties, as assigned.
