About The Position

The Direct Support Professional provides high-quality support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities by fostering strong relationships in community settings. Easterseals New Jersey has worked since 1948 to meet the continuously growing needs of people with disabilities and their families. Its community inclusion services provide a place outside the home for adults of all ages and with all types of disabilities to be active in the community, socialize with their peers, and receive needed health and caregiving services. In addition, these valuable programs offer respite, support, and education for family members and other caregivers.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old.
High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
Possess a valid driver’s license & clean driving record.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.

Nice To Haves

At least 6 months of previous experience in direct care or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) including but not limited to, feeding, toileting, assistance with hygiene, monitoring and/or administering medications and all areas of adult daily living skills.
Implement Individual Service Plans (ISPs) for daily living, transportation, medication and more.
Transports consumers within the community using the company van.
Deliver high-quality services in community, residential, and facility settings.
Build strong relationships with consumers and external stakeholders.
