Direct Support Professional - In Home
About The Position
Wall Residences is seeking an experienced, part-time Direct Support Professional (DSP) for In-Home Care services in the Floyd, Virginia area. DSPs assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities with daily domestic tasks and personal care, help them explore volunteer opportunities, provide transportation and advocacy for medical and dental appointments, and assist with medication administration. The successful candidate is detail-oriented and able to maintain accurate notes to support continuity of quality care. Hiring is dependent on references and a criminal background check free of barrier crimes. Employees are mandated reporters of abuse and neglect for individuals with disabilities. The schedule is Tuesday 9 a.m.–3 p.m., Thursday 9 a.m.–3 p.m., and Friday 10 a.m.–4 p.m.
Requirements
- Experience as a Direct Support Professional; the posting describes the candidate as experienced.
- Be detail-oriented and able to keep accurate notes.
- Provide references and pass a criminal background check free of barrier crimes.
- Hold an active driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Have at least 3 years of driving experience.
- Have no more than 2 moving violations or accidents within the past 3 years.
- Have no major violations within the past 5 years.
Responsibilities
- Assist individuals with laundry, cleaning, meal planning, cooking, and organizing.
- Help individuals explore volunteer opportunities.
- Support individuals' personal care needs.
- Provide transportation and advocacy for medical and dental appointments.
- Assist with medication administration.
- Keep accurate notes to ensure continuity of quality care.
- Fulfill mandated reporter responsibilities for abuse and neglect involving individuals with disabilities.
