About The Position
WellLife Network is hiring a Direct Support Professional to provide hands-on care, encouragement, and advocacy for people with developmental disabilities and other support needs. The role supports individuals in living as independently as possible at home and in the community, while helping them pursue their goals and live fulfilling lives. The position is at the Ann Mittasch ICF in South Richmond Hill, New York. The listed schedule is Monday–Wednesday, 3 p.m.–11 p.m., and Saturday–Sunday, 9 a.m.–3 p.m. The role is identified as non-driving. The hourly pay is $19.46. WellLife Network is a nonprofit human services organization serving more than 25,000 individuals each year. Its services span behavioral health, developmental disabilities, addiction recovery, housing, employment, and family support.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalency diploma.
- Fluent in English for client communication.
- Patience, compassion, and dedication to empowering others.
Nice To Haves
- Experience supporting adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities or behavioral health needs is preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Help with meal preparation and household chores, and maintain a safe, comfortable home environment.
- Administer medications as directed and support attendance at medical appointments and adherence to treatment plans.
- Assist with walking, transfers, and mobility aids, helping individuals navigate their environments safely.
- Implement respectful behavioral support strategies and provide encouragement and reassurance.
- Plan and participate in recreational, educational, and social activities; encourage involvement in community programs and events.
- Assist individuals with communication tools or techniques and advocate for their needs, rights, and access to services.
- Coordinate with healthcare providers, therapists, and other team members to support holistic care.
- Maintain accurate and timely daily notes, progress reports, incident reports, and other required documentation in electronic systems.
