Direct Support Professional
About The Position
Merakey is seeking Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to join their team in Millersburg, PA. This role is ideal for individuals with a strong desire to make a long-term impact on the lives of others, enjoying encouraging, mentoring, and coaching them to achieve their goals. DSPs will work in various settings, fostering independence by teaching daily living activities such as personal care, housekeeping, and laundry, while also working on social and communication skills through activities like visiting parks and sensory gardens. No experience is required as paid training is provided. Merakey is a non-profit provider of developmental, behavioral health, and education services, employing over 8,000 individuals across 12 states.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years old.
- A valid driver’s license is required.
Nice To Haves
- A High School diploma/G.E.D. is preferred.
- Related experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Encouraging, mentoring, and coaching individuals to achieve their goals.
- Following the Individual Support Plan to engage individuals in activities like visiting parks and sensory gardens.
- Working on social and communication skills with individuals.
- Fostering pride and independence in individuals by teaching daily living activities such as personal care, housekeeping, and laundry.
- Assisting individuals with daily and personal activities to enhance their independence.
