About The Position

Lehigh Valley Companion Care Homes is seeking compassionate and reliable Direct Support Professionals to provide care and support to individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities residing in its care homes. The role assists with personal care, promotes independence, and helps create a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment. The organization emphasizes high-quality, person-centered care that fosters independence, dignity, and community involvement.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Compassionate, patient, and respectful approach to care.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• Physical stamina and ability to assist with transfers and other care needs.

Nice To Haves

• Relevant certifications.
• Previous experience in direct care; experience is preferred but not required, and training is provided.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with personal care tasks, including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting.
• Administer medications and document accurately according to prescribed schedules.
• Provide emotional support and foster positive relationships with individuals.
• Facilitate and engage in recreational and community activities with individuals.
• Observe and monitor residents’ health conditions and report concerns.
• Implement individualized care plans and behavior support strategies.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and supportive living environment.
• Complete and maintain accurate documentation and records of care.
