The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is responsible for advocating and supporting adults 22 and over with intellectual and developmental disabilities, empowering them to be as active in their lives as they can.
Requirements
- High School Degree or G.E.D.
- Must be 21+ years old
- Have a valid driver’s license
- Be available by telephone for daily contact
- Commitment to assisting people with varying disabilities to participate fully in their community and in their own lives
- Varied interests and personal connections in the local community
- Proven record of conscientious, responsible behavior (work, volunteer or school history)
- Ability to work as a creative, engaged, dedicated member of the team

Responsibilities
- Advocating and supporting adults 22 and over with intellectual and developmental disabilities
- Empowering individuals to be as active in their lives as they can
- Assisting with household maintenance, meal prep, shopping, bathing, toileting, dressing, teeth brushing
- Assisting individuals to their medical appointments
- Assisting with banking
- Assisting individuals to become active members of their community and attend outings
- Administering medications
- Following Behavior Support Plans, Individual Support Plans and goals
- Following medical guidelines that are in place
- Maintaining certifications
- Handling job related duties in compliance with Agency policies
- Following all DDS regulations/policies
- Safely evacuating individuals from the home in the event of an emergency
