About The Position

Venture Community Services provides support to individuals facing diverse challenges through a compassionate and dedicated workforce using innovative practices that encourage independence, empowerment, and opportunity. The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is responsible for advocating and supporting adults 22 and over with intellectual and developmental disabilities, empowering them to be as active in their lives as they can. DSP workers receive paid New Employee Orientation, paid CPR/First Aid, PABC, Defensive Driving, and Medication Administration Program (MAP), as well as program and person-specific training at the individuals’ home. DSPs must be able to safely evacuate individuals from the home in the event of an emergency and must maintain certifications, handle job-related duties in compliance with Agency policies, and follow all DDS regulations/policies.

Requirements

  • Commitment to assisting people with varying disabilities to participate fully in their community and in their own lives
  • Proven record of conscientious, responsible behavior (work, volunteer or school history)
  • Ability to work as a creative, engaged, dedicated member of the team
  • 21+ with reliable transportation and valid driver’s license
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Possess the knowledge, skills and abilities listed above, and demonstrate that they can perform the essential functions of the job
  • Ability to speak, read, and write in fluent English
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the program and individuals supported, which may include holidays, overnights, or double-shifts
