About The Position
WellLife Network is seeking a Direct Support Professional to provide hands-on care, encouragement, and advocacy for people with developmental disabilities and other support needs. The role supports individuals in living as independently as possible in their homes and communities and helps them pursue their goals and lead fulfilling lives. The position is located at 149th St ICF in Flushing, New York. The scheduled hours are Saturday through Wednesday, 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM. The listed hourly pay is $19.46. WellLife Network is a nonprofit human services organization serving more than 25,000 individuals each year across behavioral health, developmental disabilities, addiction recovery, housing, employment, and family support.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalency diploma required.

- Experience working with adults with intellectual/developmental or other behavioral health disabilities.
Responsibilities
- Assist with personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Help with meal preparation and household chores, and maintain a safe, comfortable home environment.
- Administer medications as directed and support individuals in attending medical appointments and following treatment plans.
- Assist with walking, transfers, and mobility aids, and help individuals navigate their environments safely.
- Implement respectful strategies to support behaviors and provide encouragement and reassurance to promote confidence and independence.
- Plan and participate in recreational, educational, and social activities, and encourage involvement in community programs and events.
- Assist with communication tools or techniques so individuals can express themselves.
- Advocate for individuals’ needs, rights, and access to services.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers, therapists, and other team members to provide holistic care.
- Maintain accurate and timely daily notes, progress reports, incident reports, and other required documentation in electronic systems.
