The Direct Support Professional (DSP) position involves using caregiving and people skills to support individuals living with developmental disabilities in achieving their goals. This role offers the opportunity to make a difference in someone's life, such as by accompanying them to the park. The Supported Living Program (SLP) serves adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities who are capable of semi-independent living in townhouses or apartments, with one to three residents per unit. The DSP's primary function is to assist residents in developing essential adult living skills to foster maximum independence, with the level of responsibility and supervision tailored to each individual's needs.
